Salvia divinorum is on its way to being made illegal in the entire U.S. There is one reason and one reason only for this: people posting videos on You Tube of themselves and their friends acting stupidly while under the influence of salvia.

This is posted on Wikipedia under Salvia Divinorum in the subsection entitled "You Tube":

In an interview with California-based newspaper the San Francisco Chronicle, published in June 2007, Daniel Siebert was quoted as saying "Those videos are certainly not going to help the situation. They make salvia look like some horrible drug that makes people nuts and dangerous." and "The sad thing is it creates this public image where people don’t realize there are sensible ways to use something like this." Just over a year later in September 2008 the New York Times reported how "in state after state the YouTube videos have become Exhibit A in legislative efforts to regulate salvia."

Representative Charles Anderson of Waco, a Republican state lawmaker who is sponsoring one of several bills to ban salvia in Texas said, "When you see it, well, it sure makes a believer out of you." Anderson told colleagues at legislative hearing about a video that depicts a salvia user behind the wheel of a car.

In Massachusetts YouTube videos were shown by a retired police officer in to the public health and judiciary committees as evidence in favour of outlawing it there.

Representative Michael Sak submitted a bill which proposed Schedule I classification of Salvia divinorum and salvinorin A in the state of Michigan. He said that if people had questions about the deleterious affects of salvia, they should go on YouTube to watch the videos.

In order to prevent Salvia from being outlawed completely, these You Tube posters need to be convinced to take their videos down. Public enemy #1 in the regard is the video mentioned above called "Driving on Salvia" here is the link:

This guy needs to be messaged and convinced to take this down. We've been trying but he won't cooperate. Help us by messaging him and convincing him.

Glad you got a good laugh out of it. I like to laugh at funny videos too. But when you post a video that is screwing so many people, it's stops being so funny. This guy should have the decency to care that he is screwing over so many people.

There are a lot a people who place a lot of value in being able to utilize salvia. Those who can no longer use it and those who will soon not be able to use it when it becomes illegal in their state and those who end up in prison for using it because of this guy's video and videos like it, are not going to be laughing.

Dude it's pretty obvious to me that this video is made to show people that it's not possible to even start your car while on salvia. I think that was the whole point - you literally can't drive on salvia even if you wanted to. I don't really see the video in a negative way.

I don't disagree at all. I find it to be funny too. The guy has a lot of funny videos. The issue is that it is being used by legislators, who have zero sense of humor about these things, in their campaigns to ban salvia.

I have no issues with the intent of the video. The issue is with the effect. Politicians are masters of the spin game. They know how to sensationalize things. All they need to do is show or mention a video of someone getting high on salvia while behind the wheel of a car and they are going to cause people to be outraged. That is exactly what's happened.

My point is that, while the intent is innocent and done for the sake of comedy, it has done a lot of harm to those who benefit from using salvia. It seems to me, and a lot of other people, that a rational, decent human being would recognize this and for the sake of the people who are being hurt by it, just take the thing down.

Yeah I can see your point. What we really need is a closed community of smokers to post their videos there and membership works with invitations only. Haha.

I doubt he would take the video off from YouTube though... perhaps if enough people tell him to do so. I'll send a message myself :p

Lets do this, Flag every video on YouTube that is in reference to Salvia. If we all take part then we can control a little bit of what is out there on video.

Hey guys, just read this whole thread. I'm glad some people have my back, and I understand the whole "but they use it out of context" thing. If people are using my comedy videos out of context, that's not my problem. I can't politician-proof my videos.

However, if you people want to change things, you won't get it done by removing youtube videos. Considering what salvia is and what it does, it was only a matter of time before lawmakers got wind and said "why the fuck is this shit legal?"

If I take the video down, what would that say? I'll tell you what it would say. It would say that I'm a giant pussy. You guys are way off target with where you're focusing your rage. Your public enemy number one is a guy who does a web series about cumming on pigeons, when it should be the congressmen who are showing videos taken without permission from youtube and edited to provide a completely different message. Do you really want to protect the legality of salvia? Youtube isn't the problem, its politicians who haven't heard your side of the issue. You're not going to stop lawmakers from hearing about salvia, so you might as well make sure you have a presence when they decide what to do with it. That would be my suggestion, hopefully you guys feel where I'm coming from.

Now excuse me I just ate a salvia brownie and i;maewieo8j40jr408jjjr

Did anyone see him driving. Because I didn't. He never even reached for the keys after he took a hit. Funny video if you ask me. Especially the cat.
