i've never done cid before; and i'm staring at two hits, not knowing when they're going to get eaten

a lot of my friends are telling me not to do it.

one of them, who i asked to trip-sit, said i wasn't grounded enough, that i most likely wouldn't come back, and that it would be heart-breaking to watch a dear friend die a spiritual death. he's done cid once good and another time horrible, which turned him off from it forever.

i think i'll be fine. weed used be extremely intense, amazingly meaningful. now it's less so; i'm used to hearing voices (from other people around and from no where) when i smoke so i think i would be okay at sorting through possible hallucinations, although i occasionally get confused as to whether the real stuff happened or it was in my head.

i did a week of sleep dep, and the visual hallucinations - they actually weren't mistaken for reality - (and none of them were pleasant in content) didn't make me freak out in the least.

am i gonna to die?

 

no, two hits of acid isn't going to kill you.

 

You will be fine. Do not let your friends influence you into thinking that you are going to be doing something bad, because when you start thinking in this manner you subject yourself to a frightening experience. Now, I don't know precisely how experienced you are with psychedelics, so I will say this as if you were not; this guidance will help you. Just go with it, you will be fine, let everything flow through you; don't hold on, just let go. Everything happens for a reason, so whatever you experience will be for the better.

 

So he had a bummer and now he thinks he's doing you a favor by having you avoid what caused him so much trouble. It's not like that for everybody on LSD. Believe it or not, a lot of people have good trips, and enjoy themselves, and don't bring all of them factors of "spirituality" into the mix while they are on their trip. They go with the flow and let them positive spiritual changes happen on it's own if it's meant to be.

So, I'd advise, just go with the flow and have fun. Perhaps a trip sitter will benefit you if you do experience any rocky edges in the trip. They often occur for beginners. And LSD isn't going to kill you. You wouldn't have the money or the connections (i'm assuming) to run into an amount of LSD that could kill you.

I thought I gave enough context above, but I did not mean physically die - as I find the notion of one being able to experience their own death as contradictory. My friend means that my ego - mangled (his metaphor; I wouldn't necessarily disagree) as it is from various institutions - will cease to exist as anything recognizable as human - that I will "never come back". I do not believe his judgment to be influenced by his prior experiences.

I dropped two hits off candy last night; Nothing happened.

As for the original question... weed has always been really intense for me, too, and I think that as far as how you'll react to LSD, it could go either way. On the one hand, you are probably going to be sensitive to the effects of LSD and it will probably be "really intense." On the other, you are probably going to be a lot better prepared for the experience than people who never smoked before or who smoke but don't find it particularly intense.

It's all about weighing the pros and cons my friend. The chances that you will trip one time and never come back are extremely low if you have read up on it and go into it with a good attitude and in a good setting. If you do end up having a bad experience, chances are it will just be a very uncomfortable, possibly very scary few hours that will feel like a lifetime, and then you'll end up getting distracted by TV or something and you'll realize eventually that you are somewhat "back to normal" and then you will either swear of LSD or all drugs (and quite possibly go back on your commitment to avoid them within anywhere from 1 to 100 days) or become so fascinated by the experience that you have to pursue it further, perhaps with success or perhaps with uncomfortable results. By far the most likely scenario is that you will do it, be uncomfortable at first, then laugh a lot for a while, then be uncomfortable again for a minute, then relax again and pass out. Most trips aren't all good or bad, in my experience. Kind of like life.

My one piece of advice for having a good experience is not to read too much into it or to expect too much. It really is just a drug. I mean, sure, it can have powerful effects if you want it to, but millions of people have done it and in most cases it just became yet another experience - perhaps captivating, perhaps rather unnoteworthy. I've seen two really bad trips and one of them happened when a girl having eaten a pretty big dose was with people she wasn't very comfortable with and all of a sudden slipped into serious paranoia, and the other happened when a guy put way too much wayyyy too much weight on the experience beforehand, during it, and afterward. As I said, yeah, it's powerful, and if you go into it thinking that it's going to change your life forever either for positive or for negative, you could very likely feel that way during and after the trip, but remember that it's all in your head... that's the whole point of the drug!

I wasnt thinking he would actually have a spiritual death, but I dont see how that's something to be afraid of. We're always dying.

The only thing that will be dying...or supressed will be your ego which is ruled by experience and culture. But you regain the pieces and your ego will be brand new.(a clean slate)
