Im planning to do this halloween right, going as a FULLY decked-out hunter s thompson and even pulling a class bail using "we cant stay here, this is bat country". after that we will drink, toke, and watch rocky horror and hit up parties. but as a bonus, i want to treat my fellow rocky watchers to some 'tainted" goodies. anyone know good recipes, preferably of a halloween-y nature? PS: i have no weed cooking experience, but have basic knowledge and required resources

mmm...i found a delicious looking rice krispies recipie that calls for 3 tbsp of cannabutter. for 6 cups krispies however, how much weed can i expect to extract into that little butter. i want to make about 10 servings

I make my weed butter in a double boiler. A stick of butter and three to four grams of weed will rock your world. Melt the butter, put in the ground up goodness, stir for 15 min and then strain out the nasty. You can use the melted butter right away for cooking. Yum.
BEHOLD THE WALL OF WORDS!!!!! Depending on your weed, yes. But, using the double boiler method helps keep the smell out of the air. I did mine outside on my grill's side burner, just to be safe and because my girlfriend was like, "you are not doing that in the house", so I was fine with that. Using a large pot filled with water, with a lot of salt (I do this to increase the temprature of the water), and a medium sized metal bowl that fit just inside the pot so that it created a seal of sorts. I cranked up the heat on the outdoor grill burner and when the water inside was boiling I put the butter in the bowl. *** Alton Brown warning! *** I tend to get a bit into my food science. So this is going to be very detailed. This is what you get for asking questions! Cut it up into smaller chunks so that it melts faster. The less time it takes to melt the better. Better if at room temprature before putting in double boiler. When melted, put in the weed. Now, when I made my last batch, I had ground up a little more than one ounce of bricked Schwagg. Twiggs, seeds and all. I figured it was about 30oz Total. It also had a touch of some left over Cali Kush I had. I wanted to make sure it was good butter. To this I put about one and a three quarters pounds of sweet cream butter, salted. Higher fat content is better for the butter if you can find it. I figure that you will loose about a quarter pound or so of butter when all is said and done. This will yeald one and a half pounds of weed butter. Now this amount of butter will make about 8 batches of store bought brownie mix. It is normally 3oz of butter, or about 3/4 of one stick of butter. Whatever you recipie requires. You might need something that will mesure liquid in ounces. One batch of brownies is enough for four people. Five if you are a real lightweight. Just evenly divide up the pan in four and then cut again the other way making two brownies per person. Feel free to try just one first and if you don't feel anything after like an hour and a half eat another one. This is what I did. I was rolling for hours and still high when I woke up the next day. It was nuts. It also helps if you don't feel anything, to cap it off with a little smoke. It's like lighting a fuse to dinamite though. I was rolling for hours. So, anyway. That equals about 1.07 grams of weed to one ounce of butter ratio. Now this is cooked weed not smoked weed so the good stuff is still in there and not burned off. So also keep that in mind and ask yourself how many grams in a joint. I think that the answer can vary, but for arguments sake let's say we are rolling fatties and one gram equals one joint. If it takes 3 ounces of butter to make one batch of store bought brownie mix that is like 3.21 grams of weed in one batch divided by four people and that is .8025, or to me about oh, let's say 3/4 of a joint or a joint smoked down to the roach. Don't argue it I am just trying to make a point. So, then two brownies equals about one huge joint of really good Indica style body high weed. Now, if that is what it takes to get you fucked up then eat two brownies. If it take half a joint then eat one brownie and top if off with a couple of bowl hits if you don't really feal it yet after an hour. Take it in steps at first. And don't give them to noobs or first timers. Not fair, at least let them know what they are getting into. And, sooo, after about 15 to twenty minutes on the double boiler mixing it so the butter and weed don't settle on the bottom. It also helps keep the milk solids separated. Before you put the weed in the butter, maybe while the water is getting up to temprature and before you melt the butter, you will need to make a butter and weed solids strainer. Using a bowl and a fine mesh strainer, if you have one and some cheesecloth, if you have some, you will pour the butter through the strainer to separate the used weed from the butter. Lay the cheese cloth in the mesh strainer, if you don't have cheesecloth use a clean piece of plain white T-Shirt, a regular strainer is also fine in case you don't have the mesh one. Then put the strainer in the bowl. You will pour the butter through the strainer and then use what ever you were stiring the weedbutter with to help push the butter through the cloth. I like a large enough piece of cloth in order to be able to ball it up and get out the most of the good weed butter. So there you have it. Weed Butter. You can use this right away to cook with or freeze it and use it later. This is where you will need that liquid / ounce mesurement device. Just warm it up before you measure it for cooking. Another good thing to do is let it turn solid on the countertop first before you put it in the freezer. Stir it up a little so it is evenly spread out inside a tupperware style dish with a lid. Then put it in the freezer. I also like to pre-measure out one ounce cubes of butter using an ice cube tray. After they are frozen put them in a zip lock bag and thaw or melt in measured doses. Sorry, I tend to be longwinded about cooking. I have a passion. Like I said I think of myself as the Alton Brown of weed cooking. Now to my knowledge this recipie is my own. I have studied and used various methods and I found this to be the best one. I keep threatening to put this up with pictures on the marijuana forums and I think I could use this thread to help me post it now that I have already spelled out most of the way it is done. So, I consider this my trial run. I will go back later and copy and paste it their when I make it. I already took tons of pictures when I did this I just need to post them and write it up. im thinking of making a cake with cannabutter and mushies for halloween, i was thinking of having a layer of sponge cake (made with cannabutter of course ) then a layer of jam, on top of that more canna sponge and to top it off ground up liberty caps in melted dark chocolate and orange icing in the shape of a carved pumpkin face thing and have some little whole libs sticking up out of the chocolate as if they're growing out of the cake. Im bringing that down to a mushroom party for 2 friends who are hosting the party, also today i melted some chocolate in a bowl and dipped the caps in and then dipped them in sprinkles this weekend and the rest of halloween is going to be insane, cant wait...if anyone wants i'll post up the full recipe for the cake but its pretty improvised and i havnt tried it yet
Dipping Chocolate is great for adding butter to it. So feel free to augment the chocolate as well. Use a wisk and a double boiler. Yum.
you really do like to explain your cooking metods, haha. but the question still stands: the recipie requires minimal amounts of butter (3-4tbsp) per probably 3 servings. is that going to contain enough thc to get people high? were not trying to go crosseyed, because theres beer parties after, but i wanna get a nice batch made (its gonna be a sativa buds) that may leave some for me the following week.
finally, just so you guys are aware of my intended (still in consideration) awsome plan timeline: 7:10-8:20- sit through physics (may as well learn something) 8:20-8:40- return to rez, drop off backpack, eat 1/2 dose of krispies, and grab a "cameraman" from our group 8:40-8:50- sit patiently in class, looking like a dedicated student 8:50-8:53- become progressivly twitchier and paranoid looking -hope a few people notice 8:53- start flailing around with a flyswatter, stand up and scream "we cant stay here, this is bat country", then run out of the lecture hall 9:00- back on rez, laughing at the footage we got 9:10- start watching rocky horror approx. 9:30- eat more munchies and dance the time warp after, head to the bigger drinking parties and have a blast
Sorry about the long explination. I used to teach cooking and I am also a chef so my food knowledge comes into play. I think I may need to make a cook book some day. 3 ounces of weed butter was enough to get 4 of us rolling. We followed the standard recipie on the back of the box. Remember 4 ounces is one stick of butter. You can follow my same recipie for weed butter with one stick and about 3 or 4 grams of weed. Depending on the quality of weed. I personally use schwagg. It's cheeper and does not have to smoke well in order to cook with it. If you use the one stick 3-4 grams method then You will have a great time.
well i went and made about 3oz of weed butter using about 6g of buds and "freshly creamed" butter. not much smell, and the final product is barely a shade greener then the original butter. however, the butter fairly reeks of weed smell (even after straining) unfortunately, my mothers bread recipie (i though called for butter) actually needed oil, so now ive got delicious bread, delicious (tainted) spread, and butter to make other goodies.
