Here are my dreads which were started 2 and a half months ago. I tried the twist and lock method which turned into a greasy waxy unknotted mess, and then I backcombed them. I used wax in the tinyest amounts, less than once a week, and only the dreads I thought desparatly needed them (not many) then realized it sucks and havn't used it in about 2 months. Here they are Questions and more pics at next post.
^A better one? I wish I had one, this is my webcam. I think you can see them good enough though... Yea, so these are my dreadlings. Now heres some questions. 1I thinnk that the back of my head, the dreads are pretty far apart from eachother. As they age, will space be filled in? 2 On the top of my head, you can clearly see the pattern (little squares) as time goes by, will they be distinguishable? 3. the back of my head retained the undreaded wavyness. Will they ever straighten out, or will I always have whirky dreads. 4. Is there anything to do with the scruff of my neck or sideburns? Will they eventually dread? Thanks for comments and answers!
mine were like this, and i really hated it.. but the ones on the back of my head were quite chunky,, yours look quite thin so i wouldnt worry about it. the space will be filled with hairs as it all grows =] see above,, the lines/partings go when the new hair grows and gets fuzzy =] (mine did anyway) i dont think it matters, as long as you love 'em =] i personally wouldnt want perfectly straight dreads, but they probs will get a bit straighter with time the neck should sort itself i think,, not a clue about sideburns, i dont have them =D
1st off you want to eremove all traces of wax yoiur freads look stucky and stiff the checlkerboArd payyern is typoical woth freadheadhq dreads they define the sections too sharply and u end up liiking like a chessboarfd awhile removing the stuckiness will help 1st ofg they mostly look stiuff the crinkles are from sleeping on them amd theyre so caked in wax theuy dont straighten oiutf once bent the rest og the querstions well only time will tell and with dreads time isd everything
I think I got rid of all wax, caused i've scrubbed them to death. I havn't tried the wax removal thing yet but I guess I will soon. If only I found this site prior to falling to the wax scheme. I think your right with the sleeping part. I sleep with a beanie on cause I heard it encourages congos. Since the dreads are tucked in and slept on I guess they've became bent. If I slept w/o the tam, would the whirkyness go away? Also, I wear said tam alot (approx. 5 hours plus 7 sleeping) , and its a pretty tight fit. Is the hat deforming my wee little dreads? I didn't really section them at first when I tried twisting and locing with the curse of wax, and when that failed I just took the surviving twists and backcombed (without wax), so I wouldn't call em dreadheadhq dreads. Just a wacky change in process dreads. Thanks for you insight. If I can find a suitable camera I'll replace those terrible pics with ones that might do my dreadletts justice.
i never wore a hat and they all got squished on the back on my head, but im prone to starting on one side of the bed and ending up either on the other, or on the floor..
i squish my dreads all the time but they only stay flat for a few hours after i wake up, then there all good. I'm actually really ruff with them, i pull out loose hairs all the time, want my dreads to be use to my behavior not having to be careful all tha time cause of my dreads.
ytu not wearrin the hat at all for a week i only wear 1 when its too hot to habe em down and as far as congos go yours are already pretty thick i wouldnt encoyrage congos cause even if u get just a xcouple accidental ones your gonna end up with some mughty thick ones also mines congod very easy without any hats congos dont need encouragement they'll jhappen no mayyer hopw hard u try to prevent em
