Sup guys. Just wondering, how much did yours thicken up? had mine for like three months, the roots are more than a centimetre thicker than the dread, i have a feeling they're gonna keep getting thicker. Which i will love, because my hair was fairly thin when I got dreads, so I only have 24. Here's a picture; What do you guys think of mine?
3 months! pretty nice...did you crochet the tips? My dreads are 1.5 months and are not even as tight as yours look! Hopefully the next month and a half will be magic!
i have ..well had like 250+ so some were thin..but let alot congo recently just cause been finding too many babies and when the number was threatening to go beyond 300 i figured fewwer dreads would be less i had to keep out from ynder feet n stuff.. a few had congod unintentionaly early on tho too im curius too what ya did to em edit to add do i still see a rubber band in the 1?
are you crocheting them kiwii? It's hard to tell from the pic. I only ask because crocheting might prevent them from thickening up.
eeek hair glie..and wax? hell no i dont want dreads that look perfect from dayu 1 that bad....i hope nobody would..
I only used the wax once, I don't like it much either. But seriously, a little hair glue works so well. There's no bad impact to it at all. Just gives super nice dreads if you use it properly. Obviously over-use isn't good, that will ruin them. But a little bit of it used in the right way makes the best dreads around. When I first heard of using that I reacted in exactly the same way, but believe me it's the best thing I chose to do with my dreads. It's completely invisible when it's in the hair so there is no reason for it to be a bad thing. Here's a close up to prove it actually Sorry again for the bad quality
People only wouldn't do it because it sounds bad. But people I know who've used it reccomend it. There's no real reason that you could give not to use it really. Unless you want to be 100% natural. Why choose not to have better dreads when you have the option to have better ones, in my oppinion.
"better" is an objective thing. your method produces society-pleasing locks, whether or not they're better depends on what a single person values in locks.
Yeah, i mean asthetically. Personally, I'd rather I continued going all natural, it felt better but frankly my dreads looked like shit and where falling apart, so I'm glad I did it. Though I still value my locks as a spiritual thing, I think it would have been more true to the journey for me not to use any products.
because your glueing your hair together not letting it actually dread. It restricts movements, adds unnecessary residue to your hair. My friend went and had his dread done and they used hair glue. The result of that was him brushing his hair out a few months later. Go for it though if it works for you.
I don't see why it didn't work for him. My hair was dreaded, then glued. If he just glued his hair together then that's probably why... But like everything, it takes skill to do right. And for people to say that it "doesn't work" is simply incorrect. To say that you think it is bad or good is an oppinion. Mine and many other people I know's dreads are proof that it does work.
No he did had 4 months old dreads, still new, then went to get them washed real good and "maintenance" (whatever that means) any, it supposed to help with the loose hair and get tighter... The did the hair clue thing and left lots of residue and ultimately left with hair that would have been dreaded but it was glued together and when it was washed out just looked like shit...Not saying this is what you do...Just what he did. After you wash your hair do you reaply the glue? Do you use it between washes? How else do you maintenance?
Oh no, I don't reapply the glue. It got put in during the dreading process. The only real maintainance I do is wash every week and palm roll them if they feel like they need it. I don't know what kind of glue he used, but the one I used doesn't wash out, it just sort of corrodes and dissapears really, lol. Basically, the way that mine where done made them look like perfectly normal dreads, and they are normal dreads, the glue just helps the maturing proccess. Didn't leave any residues or anything in my hair. It was almost like magic! lol. Its a shame it didn't work out for your friend The person who fixed up my dreads and added the glue is a professional of many years, you can find pictures of her work on here; http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=71982243 I think she's one of the best out there, she's had people travel fair distances to have her do them, so I think I got lucky since I live quite close =D
Idk what to say bout this one just way a few months if it is really bad then we will c in a few months.
wtf??? Hair glue, dreads? doesn't make sense to me sorry. Just a question, those people that recommended it to you, how long have they had their dreads for? Also sorry, but if you glued your hair together you don't have dreadlocks, at least not yet anyway, just hair thats stuck together. And if you do keep them chances are in a few years your going to be wondering why you put that **** in your hair. Don't mean to be rude but I've been growing my dreads for nearly six years now and sometime around the early phases I put nasty *** in my hair, I thought it was ok then. You know what happened? About three years later I started to notice when I washed them there was a definite musty smell until they were dry. I cut that crap out... The result. I don't have dreads that stink. Just trying to be helpful really, sorry if I come across as being a little harsh, I just feel quite stronly about the topic when people think its ok to put stuff they don't need in their hair. If you want to use something to help them lock go to the ocean or buy some sea salt and mix it with some water. Trust me if you keep them for long enough you'll regret it, if not you won't know any better. I think thats why these companies that sell this bull**** survive and there aren't more people complaining. I'm asssuming a lot of people cut them off before it all starts to turn nasty. Time + dedication brings results, not sticky stuff. Good luck
If you notice in his picture the ends are folded over, as he even states, these ends are totally glued to the side of the dread. The locks are totally filled with the glue.
