Rainbow Cred. Rainbow Racism [Was "Vision Council"]

The truth of the matter is, that when you're in the woods, if you speak out about your beliefs, often time you will be asked "How many gatherings have *you* been to 'brother'?" I usually stay silent on 'hot' topics just to save my life (ie. vegan arguments; permits). And often times I wouldn't know what I was talking about if I *did* open my mouth...

I think it depends on your attitude... the great thing about rainbow is that it really doesn't matter what you've done in the past. What matters is the light and song you bring. While you're never going to be able to please everybody, most people respect a true heart.

Those kitchens (which I will not name) often time are the kids focalizing regionals all over the country.. feeding people wherever they go... and spreading the rainbow vision word of mouth (the way it's meant to be done)... or were you talking about the people who usually make up seed camp?

That sounds like a pretty 'racist' remark to me... it's easy to judge a book (or a kitchen) by it's cover... until you've actually lived with them and know their hearts and their lives...

an interesting side note... I heard plunker doing the 'hipstory' at Funk this year... he was talking about people saying "what are we going to do about death camp, what are we going to do about fat kids, what are we going to do about this camp?" he's said something to this effect: "there's always some camp like 'agro anarchists' who come around and think they are the biggest and baddest, and try to be mean and whatever, they've come, they've gone, they've always been a part of the family, they always will be, get over it" (very much paraphrased)

We'll always have people who like to drink... we'll always have people who like to make trouble... we'll always have all kinds of different people, the rainbow will always have many colors...

My job, as I see it, is to see the people that I don't understand not as "Other" but as part of me... we are all *ONE*... I will give them love, I will not judge them... I won't tell them they aren't rainbow and that they should go somewhere else...

I don't know if getting involved is the right thing to do here, but I did in the last thread and feel a part of it all, and I have something to say about the topic regardless of the op intent

There is name-calling on both sides of this nuclear debate here, and I don't know who started it in the other thread, but OneVoice you clearly quote poorphucker and link the person with the scourge you name, you do title with racism, and all your attempts to actually say "I see you poorphucker" will not be seen by poorphucker through the veil of insults.

I see a sort of racism in rainbow, but since 90% who I see are an off-white color of skin it's not really race, it's more a tribal segregationism. I've been shut out of circles and judged, and if you've ever had that done to you, you know especially at a rainbow gathering it feels like like a vortex, like finding out Vader is your father. Mostly, you survive and move on. We can't all get along ever minute. I wonder about Garret though and any others who never came back ...

All who venture in this thread should learn from this, that no matter how hurt you are hurting back only greatens the divide. Now there is another schism and it seems none will soon feel at home in a circle containing both these above posters. and those replying risk alienating their position on someone or the other's side.

In the words of that cat from Opus (comic book reference now), thppt! to 'racism' or 'tribal segregationism' at rainbow. We just have to make an effort to just try, never make excuses for the past, and be nice to 42 people a day.(finally, an actual book reference, even if it is a comicy book eventually made into a tv movie)

 

Just a quick word or two about the death camp thread...a variety of opinions were expressed & since the thread is gone, there is no way of checking who said what. And the thing is, everyone is entitled to their opinion whether or not others agree with it.

Swaglow, puctuation really is helpful in understanding net posts. Jumping to the next line, like you posted your heartsong, works too.

That said, I find it amusing that the current conversation is centered around several people trying to convey their version of 'non-judgemental and loving' while the judgements fly in all directions...seems like a combination of verbal tennis & squash rolled into one.
