i just wash my hair once every two weeks, after washing, poofff! its like transporting back to my 1st month! bullshit... btw, i wash mine with just baking soda and lime juice. (to think, it was just the "good stuffs" to wash with).

and please, trust me on this, i did all the things that was supposed to be done.
im a well-informed naturalitarian dreadlocks follower.

    shit. again.

awww, that sucks. :( that's why i backcombed, because i KNEW my hair would do that. it's just too damn slippery, lol!

the lime juice might be making it softer. when i did the baking soda thing, i think the lemon juice was what made it so soft, the baking soda dried it right up, along with the seasalt.

just thought of something else... 2 weeks seems like a long time to go between washings. maybe your head needs to be cleaner? i know mine gets greasy as hell by the end of the week, lol!

also, how are you washing your hair? are you "smoothing" it back a lot? this will cause knots to come out, as they are very baby at this point. i would try washing by "scrunching" it upwards towards the top of your head, and just in general, smushing it all around in random wild ways, etc. that ought to create knots instead of taking them out.

i know i STILL after over a year with dreadies, tend to want to run my fingers through my hair when i'm washing it. and smooth it back and such. which doesn't help dread stuff up. :)

Forget about anyone telling you to wash your hair with whatever. Use shampoo and water and that's it. For better results use residue free shampoo, but out the window with baking soda and bees wax and whatever else

yeah..how long is your hair? I have shoulder length fine hair. My hair is naturally oily so I have to wash it every couple days. After waiting about a lil over a month doing it naturally I ended up backcombing cuz knots kept washing out. My hair is just to fine and oily to knot up on its own. I tried all kinds of shampoos and baking soda concotions too. So, if your hair is long enough, I would recomend backcombing it once and then leaving it alone. However, you really should wash more often than every 2 weeks. Clean hair knots quicker.

half a year of no shampoos. seem like forever of no combing.(thats how straight my hair is!)

it just looks {today} an acceptable bad hair day case.

    shoulder length hair.
i wash it by palming it wildly in one direction(clockwise that is). im too careful not to run it with fingers or anything running over my hair, i even get mad if someone do so. haha.

the two weeks i said, i just came to that routine about 6weeks ago, which means i only did 3 times. its out of frustration of still not having any {good} results. anyway, thanks for those replies and keep em coming. xD

if u yse rthe baking soda skip the lime or lemmon just baking soda and sea salt
an d dont rub it wildly..dont rub it at all..pour it over your head wait awhile ...1/2 hour if u can..then rince it out..no rubbing at all
afterwards just give it a good shakeoutand let air dry..dpo that once or twice a week ad see if it dont lmake4 a difference

can you maybe post a picture of what you have so far? if you don't backcomb at all (which I'm not sure if you did) from my understanding it takes a much longer amount of time.
I agree that you might just want to wash your hair more frequently for right now, since your hair isn't entirely knotted then it will become greasier and less able to knot up.
I wash my hair with shampoo or the deep cleanse every 7-9 days and in between I'll rinse my hair a bit and spray in tea tree sometimes.
I've also heard that ocean water helps them lock up.
The problem with my hair is that when it was straight it would get knotted up into huge chunks all together by the end of the day and if I didn't backcomb I don't even know how I would have been able to manage it into sections without tearing it like crazy.

i'd love to.. have no cam though.

mine dont grease up actually, its always bone dry.

and i think, its also resistant to locking up. just to add. haha.

looking in the mirror, half a year without much significant changes for me is really painful.
    shit right? xD
