to those that "hate labels": I'm not trying to be rude i just want to express an opinion. I find that there is nothing wrong with so called "labels" because they just describe a common behavior/belief system that can be shared among your peers. Technically, if we didn't have labels we all would be thrown in with "murderers" and "Rapists" and the like. Most people that i have encountered that "hate labels" have no problem throwing labels around at other people. It's just an easy way of summing up your philosophy and people that you choose to align yourself with. A lot of people hate the word "hippie" but to me it is kind of a way to in one word tell people what you are about. Yes, there is some negative stereotypes that go along with a lot of the labels, for example a lot of people associate "hippie" with "drug addict" or "lazy" or "freak" but if they really care to find out what kind of person you are then they will realize that you can belong to social group and still be an individual. Belonging to a social group does not mean that you can't mingle with the other groups as i'm sure you are all aware. So there's my feelings on "labels".

(I respect your opinion, but) Technically, if we didn't have labels then nobody would be called a "murderer" or a "rapist" either. Although I'm not sure if that argument is sound either since the labels of murderer and rapist are bestowed upon people who have killed and raped, and someone can be a murderer or rapist whether or not they choose to call themselves that or align themselves with other murderers/rapists.

You are right, though, many people who are against labels label other people. Some aren't even aware that they do it. It's human nature to want to put everything in its own little box.
