To be fair, I don't particularly want the girlfriend to stop working once we have kids.

i think this is high up there on the list of the most idiotic arguments i've ever heard. i'm assuming by "near them" you mean have sex with them. so really, men are dicks because women are sluts?

Honestly? I would love to be able to be a single income household. if I ever have children, I would much rather they be homeschooled just so that they waste less time sitting around listening to someone who doesn't understand the material muddle through and tell them they are wrong.

men are dicks because we don't have to grow up, and, in fact, are encouraged not to.

    Off topic I know...

It's funny how you call her the girlfriend.

    Just my little random thought.

Oh and Bella, as a child I always preferred my dad's company.

no, some men are dicks because they are dicks and society accepts them as such; placing no demands on them of changing and exhibiting socially and morally appropriate behavior.
As a woman I apologize to other women because I allowed, at times men to be a dick to me and now they most likely expect their current and future girlfriends to accept thema s a dick.
I think calling my statement idiotic is really judgemental and closed minded. I've never said that to you when we have disagreed. I feel like I have always at least respected you opinion and I would appreciate the same from you. I bet we are more alike than we are different.

No...it's just that most people say my girlfriend....not the girlfriend. It's different and cute. That's all.

i'm sorry if i offended you. i didn't mean to call you idiotic, only that the premise of what you were saying makes absolutely no sense at all to me.

and i agree. i think we are alike in some ways. but when it comes to topics of gender roles, especially when concerning relationship roles.... i just think that you have a very old fashioned point of view. and if that's what works for you, great. it just doesn't even compute with me.

therefore, i probably shouldn't have even posted on the thread. my bad.

To be honest I think that women should stay home when there is a family involved it is just what has worked for thousands of years. But our society wants too much labor so now typically both parents have to work.

Me and the GF were discussing this subject the other week, about how sense the 70s both parents had to work to keep up a house hold. And about in the 70s women rights came out. Where women rights activists CIA agents? getting women primed to work 40 hours a week? And all the T.V. shows that started coming out with all the women having jobs?
Conspiracy to crate more labor? :cool:Hummmm…

I do think it is more healty to have mom at home with the kids.

and, to be fair <this is just me being a smartass> of course you're more the same than you are different, you're both human AND female, that's a ton of shit in common already (not just the two things mentioned, your genomes are nigh unto indistinguishible except the very small bits that make you you.)

    smartassery over.

I'm sorry i am just super sensitive today. the hospice came to do a training at work this morning on bereavement counseling and it was intense and I am all sensitive.
You're right. I think we are both good people that want good things for the world. We just have different ways of trying to scheive that. From your posts I can tell you have a really good heart and I know you weren't trying to be mean.

Oh please. Men rarely hunt, fight or pillage anymore. Yet women still take care of children, cook, and work outside of the home all at the same time. Raising children and providing for a family should be a joint effort, with the roles decided based on what each person feels comfortable with.

it's all good. i know we're just on totally different wavelengths on this subject. :)

and i've worked in the caregiving field for years, and i understand how intense a lot of the emotional aspects of the field can be. you're on a different track with that too, as a counselor, but it's definitely still dealing with people on an emotional level, and it can be really overwhelming emotionally.

    *ahem*

Men may hunt but it isn't to feed their family.
