http://www.totse.com/en/drugs/otc/poppyseedteare179568.html i sat and read this and was wondering if any of you experienced guys have any other tips to add, or would disagree with the preparation method discribed therein. pleasethankyou
i only disagreed with that article on one thing... i'd suggest using pure spring water instead of tap water. ever since i switched to bottled, my tea has been noticeably stronger. also, just another trip- if you don't want to use a strainer, you can just unscrew the lid a bit so that it's still hooked on, but there's room for the water to escape from. saves a lot of mess, you can just throw the whole bottle away and there's no other clean up.
I think you'd just have Morphine in resin form if you did that. Maybe a little codeine. I'm not sure if it's present in the seed.
Morphine, Codeine and Thebaine are the main Alkaloids, along with a handful of others present, in Opium
I know what's present in opium. I'm saying what's present in the seeds. I dknow there's a small amount of morphine, but I don't know if there's any codeine.
who gives a shit about codeine? Anyways, there's both, because its not in the seeds, the seeds get coated with small amounts of opium from the pod itself.
Codeine is just as essential to the opiate buzz and morphine. Without it opium smokers would be doing nothing but smoking morphine. After a a quick google: Poppy seeds from different origins contain a wide variation of morphine (2-251 micro g/g) and codeine (0.4-57.1 micro g/g)
no its really not. if there's less codeine per gram, and codeine is 1/10 the strength of morphine, then its not that "essential" is it? Try smoking morphine and tell me if that's not a complete experience. There's a reason heroin manufacturers don't bother with codeine, it sucks.
I MAY be wrong about this, but isn't it just that heroin is derived from morphine? Heroin is diacetylmorphine... you can't make heroin from codeine, and that's why it's not necessary in the process. So it's not that they don't think it's worth it, it's just, there's not really a reason to bother with it because it won't make heroin. Codeine may not be the strongest opiate, but it's not nothing.
Mix codeine and morphine and tell me if you get the same "morphine" high. Codeine may be an opiate just like morphine, but it's a completely different chemical with different effects. There's a reason why it's codeine syrup they make and drink and not morphine syrup. I've been addicted to both opiates. Don't tell me codeine is any weaker than morphine. They're just different. That's all.
can i see a source? wikipedia, and a few other sites I've looked at, all say that the morphine is isolated from opium, and then that is made into heroin. and it makes sense, morphine is part of the chemical name for heroin. but i don't know much about this stuff so i can't be sure... i'm just interested to know where it says that heroin's derived from thebaine.
