brother, you're paranoid. come back to reality. face it. Obama is our next president... be ready to eat your own words.
Ah, yes, the panacea that will fix everything: global instability! You know, now I feel like i'm in a hippie forum, because we are rehashing good old words like "socialist" and "reactionary". Barry Goldwater in '08!
I'm proud to call myself a socialist. I only wish Obama were everything the Republicans say he is....
I know of a way we could have saved 700 billion dollars and a additional 593,937,900,000 and counting, but thanks to King Bush that time has past
Here in California whites are now a minority. And you should all do a little research on welfare reform. It's not what it once was since 1996. It's a non-issue, and another explanation for the street people you see. When I was growing up, before Reagan we didn't have homeless. We looked after as a society our less fortunate. It's how we have progressed and differed from Brittain and Dicken's debtor prisons. We had county hospitals that provided care, and poor homes to shelter the less fortunate. But that was all privatized. County hospitals were closed because it was supposed to be more economical. Trouble was that privatization worked as well as the privatization of utilitities in California with Enron.
Agreed. I live in North Caroina now, and I can easily say this guy is talking out of his fucking ass. Sure, there are those people here, but they are by far in the minority. And sure, the south is right leaning, but the stereotype picture this guy paints is completely unfounded.
not if the free market is allowed to ebb and flow. We in this country have seen much privatization- without fair competition being allowd to freely dictate the market. Walmart's goods are made in China where labor is cheap- and we see the lower prices for it. I'm not promoting globalization- not at all, just giving an example. healthcare- allow pharmaceutical competitors from outside the US to compete, allow Americans to buy medicines from outside the US, allow hospitals to compete freely with other hospitals and urgent care businesses, and the consumer can benefit from the healthy competition as long as the government allows the competition and only gets in the way when unfair or illegal business practices become a problem, such as in instances of price fixing. Free market healthcare is a lot healthier than socialized health care- for the country, the economy, and the patient.
i am fascinated by the inability of some people to empathize with others [call them republicans, call them sociopaths] slavery, jim crow, all supposed to vanish into thin air just because WE SAY it ought to take away a people's culture, their very humanity and then ask them to forget that it all ever happened thus taking away whatever history remains funny too that southerners resist this same request so vehemently [you'll get my confederate flag when you pry it out of my cold dead fingers] anyways, i'm sure we can all agree that exxon/mobil needs this money more than a single mom facing ever-rising food prices on wages that have been decreasing for longer than she has been alive
