this might sound like a weird question but ill explain as best as i can.
So my hair feels like dreads when you touch them, and when you pick them up individually they look like them, but when my hair is just normal (down) my hair doesnt really look dreaded. any reason for this?

did you backcomb them? how old are they? mine didn't really look like dreads when i first started. that takes a while.

I backcombed some of them, half backcoming and half neglecting, I notice when I neglect them, they come out really thin, so I backcomb a couple of them together. Its been about 2 months or so.

yeah, that early on they aren't as distinguishable when lying down on your head. give them time, they'll tighten up quite a bit. :)

thanks for the reassurance. Plus my head isn't fully dreaded because Im choosing to mostly do the neglect method. I have maybe about 40-50 dreads because I like them a little thinner

Wax makes dreadlocks cry!!! Let them be free, do not imprison locks into wax captivity, let them be free, let them be happy, let them live! My locks represent my ras-fari faith, but also represent freedom, as they have never been restricted and never will. instead of wax, use time, and patience.

We are all people of the rastaman

    Blessings

like they said...wax is evil if u absolutely feel u need something use 100% pure aloe gel
    nothing else
    but u really need nothing
all those sites that sell wax are total scams selling lies top sell products
    products that are very harmful

thanks for all the information guys.. i wanted to go the route of just letting them go without wax, but everwhere i went it was either YES you need wax or NO never wax.. my hair is fine tho so i figured i may need some extra hold, but i guess the aloe gel will work if i need anything.
