Hey idiot, a lot of that is good music......but you still haven't explained to me how goa/psytrance sucks. Your inability to define crappy music, Leingodiot, means you can keep your mouth shut .
yeh his list was full of pretty good musicians. But he has missed the point of psytrance. probablyhas never really listene to it much. Some people start listening to musi as teenagers and by the time they are adults, they think they have an idea of what 'real music' is or something or 'how music shoudl be'. As a musician and an explorer of human's condition, I think that there is an infinite variety of potentially good music, and the only way to trully understand what music is and how it affects us and our brains is to listen to all genres openly and simply find the things htat you enjoy. But a lot of people are unable to get past their stereotypical mindsets of lame ravers and stuff. Though I do have a beef with this sort of stuff in teh fact that there is sOOO much of it that it is basically impossible for me to grasp all the songs as identities and artists as entitites.. its just good or bad psytrance to me so far. And thats all it needs to be... leingod get over it, you do not have a special radar for what good music is. You jsut have your oppinions. Music is something people need to reserve their opinions on more. I started off listening to classic rock, moved onto the whole range of things from 60's through 80's. Then I got into ethnic stuff fro maround the world, and into contemporary music. Then I started taking ecstacy and it led me into places with my heart open, and I found out what it is that people listen to in dance music /electronic music. I eventually found myself with Drum and Bass which is basically the king of electronic beat music, imo. Recently been gettin into this psytrance stuff. But I still listen to all the music i used to love. Good electronic music requires so much more skill than good band music.. But it is also very easy for people to create crap trance music.. and theres a lot out there. Its a bit hard to differentiate good and bad trance unless youve listened to the song for a couple of minutes, because it is over that sort of time frame that trance music evolves, unlike normal bands with their verse-chorus sort of structure
I went pretty much the same way with what i listened to but found that i didnt really enjoy Drum & Bass unless i had taken pills. But from the dnb scene i found Dubstep which is exactly the sort of music i have been looking for all my life.
that's awesome..i'm a drum n bass and jungle dj..even though i prefer jungle more (not trying to start genre wars here : ) i find jungle beats to be more complicated and have more depth than dnb beats. dnb is a lot harder and the drum samples sound thicker and more rough. i don't really find dnb to be lsd music though...even though there have been songs... : ) i remember one in particular that seemed destiny at the time..i was driving home after a nice night of tripping and had my mp3 player on..and a song came on called "Endlessly" and it had a female vocal sample saying "endlessly" only it alternated with "lsd". that was great : )
I find dnb to be great on acid. I feel like im in digital world. problem is that because of a lack of perception of time i sometimes take my pills too close together. and that can be a bit rough. Or take more than i had anticipated. Apart from that though i think dnb & jungle both compliment the acid really well. And breaks for that matter.
taste in music is merely an opinion calm down. if u don't like psytrance why even post it just makes an argument for nothing. anyway thanks for listing some good tunes guise
PsyGrunge, if you don't like Infected Mushroom that's fair enough, but that doesn't change the fact that A LOT of other people do and they're still one of the biggest names in psy trance. Vicous Delicous was a bit too commercial for me too, but their older albums are pretty incredible. Younger Brother - Psychic Gibbon http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=d34hJwMhVto That track on psychedelics is amazing.
hehe never try to promote music by saying that a lot of people chose to listen to it but I think the best music is music that makes the most people move their body. So the best music is essentially pop music, but that doesnt mean it is my favourite, nor does it mean I would recommend it to people
i'd say the problem with pop is the industry behind it. instead of some unique talent there's a whole industry dedicated to pooping out moneymakers. they take nobodies and give them an image and hire people to write songs for them. like american idol (not that anyone has ever seemed to make superstar status) where all you have to do is be approved by three scheisters and you're eligible to be a "celebrity". it's like music doesn't belong to creativity anymore..it belongs to suits. the evidence is in all the crossing over from one specialty to the other. like joaquin phoenix giving up his acting career to be a singer because he enjoyed playing johnny cash. it doesn't just go for music either..any area of entertainment is a target. look at that cd paris hilton tried to release..it's a perfect example of the industry belonging to those who want and can instead of those who are truly inspired to create original material.
Thinking on.. Unfortunately, I agree that they are one of the biggest names in PsyTrance (even though they're getting a lot of false credit, imo) and I like their earlier stuff.. but if the same people praising I.M. were to look beyond widely publicised psy artists that get a lot of media coverage, I doubt they'd be as wow-ed by the 'shroom.. maybe current fans would see them for the very mediocre act they are. I'd love people (especially IM fans) to compare Infected Mushroom with Space Buddha. I.M. were once a really good duo (hell, I can't criticise the older stuff - it got me into psytrance ), but now (of course, imo - I'm not speaking for all!!) whatever musical 'talent' is left has gone down the pan. P.S. I love Younger Brother.. have you heard Yab-Yum's stuff? And an artist called 'Onkel Dunkel'..
Although Infected Mushroom might not be quite as psy-trance as the used to be they still had some amazing tracks on vicious delicious; becoming insane, vicious delicious, and heavyweight off the top of my head. Anyway one of the great things about I.M. is that they draw a lot of new people into psy-trance. They are one of the few popular artists who people who have not listened to much psy would recognize as being of that genre. Then again it could have the opposite affect if people hear them and assume that as they are so famous they must be one of the best.
You critisize psytrance but then post a list like that. woah. That list would be cool if we were in like high school. I mean seriously you put MC pee pants on there maybe if this was 5 years ago and I had just seen that episode of ATHF. Slipknot.... are you kidding me, maybe if I was still a freshmen all pissed off about having to go to high school. White Zombie. Dragonforce? no. Just no on that one. Disturbed... Atleast you got Godspeed You! Black Emperor on there, you can get a point for that one. But theres stuff in psytrance way cooler than half the shit on there. Do you actually expect someone to go down that list and try things out?
I'm not saying you have to like dragonforce but honestly, herman li is a god on a guitar. Gotta atleast give em credit
Ya it is technically skilled. I once had my bouts with dragon slaying before. But, I just sorta lost interest in the medieval era altogether. Anyways, about psytrance. This is probably my favorite track from way back in the day. Yahel - Waves of Sound (Infected Mushroom remix) http://www.4shared.com/file/6972036..._waves_of_sounds.html?dirPwdVerified=e42e3883
Ah yet again enlightening words from the almighty LEINGOD...Hail thee anime king I shall now listen to slipknot, red hot chilli peppers, and ZZ top because i wanna hear this good music you speak of
do you like any other electronic beat music? perhaps you need to step into the genre from something more appealing
