I really hope not. Apparently last night he was surrounded by a bulletproof glass wall.

I think the United States made a good decision. I'm excited to see if he can keep his promises.

Conflicted emotions. I really wasn't pleased with either candidate to tell the truth, as I felt like we were simply being told what we wanted to hear (but really, isn't that typical of politicians in general?) and I must say, I had a lot of distrust, frustration, and anger due to what's occured within the past 8 years. But I also know that it wasn't all Bush's doing, as much as I didn't care for the man. What we're facing now has been a long time coming, it started back when Reagan was president. We've been making lots of messes over the years, and now it's snowballed out of control. There are many variables as to why.

I didn't even want to vote this election, and I felt a lot of pressure from certain people to go one way more than another.

I don't really consider myself loyal to any particular party, I base my voting on a lot of research into both democrat and republican candidates, I look at what they're going to do that will be in the best interest of my family. I then make my decision.

Just as, I supported certain candidates in previous local elections, but voted against them after I found that they were in support of the Wall Street Bail Out this time around.

Now, I'm just relieved it's over, and I'm hoping that things will work out for the best in the end.

Do you really believe that Reagan and Bush arent interconnected?

They're *all* interconnected. One mess leads to another, whether it be democrat, republican. It doesn't matter. Yes, everyone makes mistakes, and my goodness, I would never want the job of being president of the United States. Talk about stress, talk about a burden! But the fact remains that a lot of poor choices have been made over many years, not always in the best interest of the people, more out of greed.

The problem lies in the fact that we've willingly handed over entirely too much power to the government.

No. I'm pretty sure there was something shielding him last night. I could only tell from certain angles, but I do think he was well protected, to say the least.

Edit: I'd venture to guess that he wont be riding with the top down Kennedy style. I'd see him making appearances in something similar to the Pope-mobile.

All of my military friends are pissed. I knew Obama was going to win, but I didn't vote for him. I couldn't. I'm just wondering what he is going to do now. If he is all about getting rid of carbon emissions my dad is fucked job wise. I hope the stock market holds up. I know plenty of people who said they were jerking their stocks out if Obama won. *sigh* We'll see what happens. I just hope this is not another term like Jimmy Carter.

Does your dad work at a carbon emissions warehouse or something?

401(k) plans are still something to ride out over the next 3-4 years. We're looking at a 2-3 year recovery and a bottom that should somewhat match the housing market.

Obama is going to be much better for this country's work force than McCain would've been.

No, but he is getting all kinds of bad news from the guys at the top because of it. No one is buying anways because of the banks so hours are being cut short. We are all just happy that he still has a job. *crosses fingers*

Really? Because quite a few people are getting laid off. How is his holiness going to help us?

he was my second choice (first one was ron paul) but i feel like he will be like a kennedy. he has a great speaking voice and you know he is smart unlike bush who has lots of people help him right a speech which ends up making bush still look like a dumbass. i think he will really try hard to fix our economy and i believe he is not as greedy as other presidents have been in the past. i like him so far, he seems to be a great leader.

I take it your dad is in the car business? That's going to become a good sector again over the next few years as well. More and more hybrids and other fuel-friendly cars will start to hit the lots, and Obama has stated on numerous occasions that he's all for tax incentives and other government funding to aide in the purchase of cars that run on alternative fuel sources.

He's also all for providing tax breaks and incentives to companies who start up and continue to operate inside the nations borders. Which will help begin to reverse this unemployment problem. That lessens the need for welfare AND at the same time creates additional tax revenue.

Nothing anybody could possibly do would make things tomorrow look like they did 10 years ago, but his plan makes sense....if he can execute.
