Aside from the mostly hideous screech of black metal, its constant need to backup every tremelo riff with hedache inducing double kick drums and,its relentless persuit to kill all Christians, Black metal can be quite peacefull music to listen to. Here is a good example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8wB7emt6ig I am looking for more bands like this, any recomendations?
I love some of this kind of black metal as well I'd say try some of the later albums of Summoning. I think you would dig songs like Long lost to where no pathway goes, The loud music from the sky and A distant flame before the sun. These tracks are on Stronghold, their albums before are more raw and the ones after more melodic/epic. You may also like bands like Wolves in the throneroom and Drudkh. Lunar Aurora fits in the atmospheric black metal genre as well, but I still don't know them very well. I liked what I've heard though!
Except that Alcest is Shoegaze, not black metal... But both are amazing artists and worth a listen. Thy Light, Make A Change... Kill Yourself, Coldworld, and Drudkh are also good entry level bands making this sort of Black Metal.
Fear Factory is one of the worst bands that ever existed. I'm appalled that they would even come to mind when you hear the phrase "black metal".
Cool, thanks. Drudkh are exactly what I am looking for- beautiful music. I cant quite pinpoint why, but I find Eastern European metal very appealing. I'll definitely check out Summoning. Alcest sound interesting too- I like the way they mix BM and shoegaze- it works really well. I love Prurient, but there not what im looking for lol.
I'm not heavy into black metal at all....but there is one band that can be somewhat peaceful at times(there is actually one song called Gaia Tellus, which is really pagan). Rotting Christ
Actually, it was the phrase "peaceful" that brought them to mind. As for the rest of your post...so what?
I see you're up too. Yep I had that album a few years back and and listened to it often. Heard a few things from other albums. I think our discussion is rather subjective though, don't you?
I have very fond memories of Ancient as well, but only till Mad grandiose bloodfiends. Now that I think of it, an album that you may dig as well is Dimmu Borgir's Stormblast. Has some very atmospheric pieces and sounds like a different band compared to their later stuff (haven't heard their latest though, lost my interest in them)!
Yea Dimmu's origonal Stormblast I find is a very pleasnt and uplifting record to listen to ie it is very happy music- for black metal standards. I Enjoyed Ancients "Trolltaar" Ep, but found the The Cainian Chronicles dissapointing. Perhaps il give Mad grandiose bloodfiends a try I have to say im really diggin Drudkh at the moment. beautiful music.
