We generally have turkey, though over the past six years I had tofurkey. Now Im back to the real thing and I love it.
For xmas the meat eaters in my family have Foie Gras and turkey with potatoes.. I just eat the potatoes.. and smoked salmon.. caviar.. little pieces of toast with fancy stuff on top.. lobster.. Champagne.. hmm.. for the Beaujolais Nouveau with have Baujolais Nouveau.. on New Years Champagne.. birthdays and anniversaries Champagne and cake.. but we also eat all these things on regular days sometimes.. I would say there's generally more alcohol and desserts like cakes as the main difference.
:drool5: i think the best part is the cracklins, although it's all pretty damn great. for special occasions, i usually go out for steak. for holidays, my mom typically makes chicken or turkey, although she varies a lot in what she makes.
we always have turkey on holidays. I request it. my mom makes ham too and I'm pretty much a snob and won't eat it.....
New years we have collards, cornbread, blackeyed peas, and mashed potatoes. Gotta get that money rollin' in!
man i haven't had any good fish in a long time. right now i want some damn good fish...rice...lots of green vegetables, a bunch of fruit...and i don't know, some rum or beer or something. oh! and conch fritters!!
All ham is roast soaked in a brine and smoked?? I loved corned beef and corned pork. Man if done right its great. Ever had a fresh smoked pork (no salt brine) its great.
I usually try to tend to the likes of my guests. If they're vegetarians, I have an all veggie layout...
i dont usually like any shellfish. i DO like conch, but only in conch fritters healthy, right? what can i say, like most americans i love some fried food! some stereotypes are true i guess
