i agree with you that certain groups of small people wield ridiculous amount of power over the masses. this includes certain family names and bloodlines. but it seems a lot would just look at yours or my statement and think "conspiracy theory"

The difference between open and honest political discussion and political conspiracy theory is that many conspiracy theorists seem to want to close down any real discussion on politics in an effort to impose their own political agenda.

Let me explain.

Political debate is based on a discussion of the differing merits of differing economic and social models and ideologies.

For example a right wing supporter of Milton Friedman might argue that the ‘people’s’ best interests are served by the free market, while a left winger might argue that social justice can only be achieved through socialistic methods.

It seems to me that many conspiracy theorists try to shut down such discussions, for example - someone that is pro right wing and dislikes left wing ideas but is also a conspiracy theorists has a habit of attacking left wing ideas not on there merits but by claiming that they are just an invention and tool of a secret conspiracy of the illuminati, shape shifting aliens or tooth fairies.

It doesn’t really matter who the conspirators are or even if they exist it stops being a matter of the merits of differing systems and turns into a fundamentalist crusade against evil shadows.

This means that being pro-right becomes a matter of saving the world from evil and not whether its ideas can produce beneficial social and economic change or not.

And conversely anyone that supports left wing ideas is either a patsy for evil or is part of the evil conspiracy.

In other words the conspiracy theory trumps any open or honest political debate, it ends it.

 

So we should vote for McCain because no one has threatened to shoot the admiral's son?

I'd rather Obama was elected. I am sure he's heard all the threats, all of us have. I am sure if elected and before he's going to be protected.

Are we supposed to vote McCain/Palin because no one has targetted them for assassination. That's why we should vote for the Mavericks?

I heard an interview on the radio with a Ms. Maverick of Arizona. Yes, the word actually comes from this family, because an ancestor had a bunch of cattle that he never branded. Eventually it came to mean someone who goes against the herd.

I think Obama will be quite fine, there are a lot of people backing him, so he no doubt has the best security available.

Ha we were discussing this yesterday. Somebody actually theorized that someone in the white house could be waiting for him to show up and then pull a trigger. I thought it was funny at first and then I thought about it and it seems like a legit possibility.

Truely...I think theres a better chance of him getting shot than doing a whole 4 years. Ive always stuck with the republicans but...I'm starting to get excited about seeing how the economy's going to go down. Its like something great has actually happened in politics.

I sure hope he gets shot, but I would prefer if it did happen that an assassination would be worked out so his whole administration would be knocked off as far down as secretary of state.

 

You probably don't realize but with the passage of FISA your post has been tracked and recorded, and the content could be construed as terrorist in nature, and you might find your ass in Guantanamo.

And you should consider if you ever wish to hold a job that requires a security clearance, you probably won't get one. You can thank Bush and company for that.
