From DEA Website. http://www.usdoj.gov/dea/demand/speakout/04so.htm

FACT: Smoked marijuana is not scientifically approved medicine. Marinol, the legal version of medical marijuana, is approved by science.

Medical marijuana already exists. It’s called Marinol.
A pharmaceutical product, Marinol, is widely available through prescription. It comes in the form of a pill and is also being studied by researchers for suitability via other delivery methods, such as an inhaler or patch. The active ingredient of Marinol is synthetic THC, which has been found to relieve the nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy for cancer patients and to assist with loss of appetite with AIDS patients.

Unlike smoked marijuana—which contains more than 400 different chemicals, including most of the hazardous chemicals found in tobacco smoke— Marinol has been studied and approved by the medical community and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the nation’s watchdog over unsafe and harmful food and drug products. Since the passage of the 1906 Pure Food and Drug Act, any drug that is marketed in the United States must undergo rigorous scientific testing. The approval process mandated by this act ensures that claims of safety and therapeutic value are supported by clinical evidence and keeps unsafe, ineffective, and dangerous drugs off the market.
There are no FDA-approved medications that are smoked. For one thing, smoking is generally a poor way to deliver medicine. It is difficult to administer safe, regulated dosages of medicines in smoked form. Secondly, the harmful chemicals and carcinogens that are byproducts of smoking create entirely new health problems. There are four times the level of tar in a marijuana cigarette, for example, than in a tobacco cigarette.
Morphine, for example, has proven to be a medically valuable drug, but the FDA does not endorse the smoking of opium or heroin. Instead, scientists have extracted active ingredients from opium, which are sold as pharmaceutical products like morphine, codeine, hydrocodone or oxycodone. In a similar vein, the FDA has not approved smoking marijuana for medicinal purposes, but has approved the active ingredient-THC in the form of scientifically regulated Marinol.
The DEA helped facilitate the research on Marinol. The National Cancer Institute approached the DEA in the early 1980s regarding their study of THC’s in relieving nausea and vomiting. As a result, the DEA facilitated the registration and provided regulatory support and guidance for the study. California, researchers are studying the potential use of marijuana and its ingredients on conditions such as multiple sclerosis and pain. At this time, however, neither the medical community nor the scientific community has found sufficient data to conclude that smoked marijuana is the best approach to dealing with these important medical issues.
The most comprehensive, scientifically rigorous review of studies of smoked marijuana was conducted by the Institute of Medicine, an organization chartered by the National Academy of Sciences. In a report released in 1999, the Institute did not recommend the use of smoked marijuana, but did conclude that active ingredients in marijuana could be isolated and developed into a variety of pharmaceuticals, such as Marinol.
In the meantime, the DEA is working with pain management groups, such as Last Acts, to make sure that those who need access to safe, effective pain medication can get the best medication available.

I heard about them growing synthetic crystal thc

supposedly its literally the most pure form of thc and you smoke it like meth
i was reading a report on it and one hit got the user extremely high for like 6 hours
it was 15 mgs of the powder he used for a hit

ho damn.

Yeah, I've always found it odd that medical marijuana was to be smoked. This makes more sense, putting it in pill form. I did see a picture of marijuana lollipops... I guess they put the thc into the sugar. I think they already have brownies?

i'd rather just ingest the real thing, medical marijuana with high THC content should be ingested for internal ailments/cancer rather than smoking it unless its for pains/nausea, when u burn it actually destroys some of the THC.
u can treat cancer with THC, there wouldnt need be for chemotherapy, it kills more people than it saves. you should really check out "running from the cure".

treating the disease is far more profitable than curing it.

Users reported several problems with Marinol, that led many to abandon the pill and resume smoking the plant. Patients complained that the violent nausea associated with chemotherapy made swallowing pills difficult. The effects of smoked cannabis are felt almost immediately, and is therefore easily dosed. Marinol, like ingested cannabis, is very psychoactive, and is harder to titrate than smoked cannabis. Marinol has also consistently been more expensive than herbal cannabis. Some studies have indicated that other chemicals in the plant may have a synergistic effect with THC.

do the right thing, take the real thing.
unless ur just lookin for a high. :D

THC isnt the only medical active cannabinoid either. there are some hundreds found in cannabis but marinol only has THC. making it less useful than the plant it self. the way around the smoking combustable plant material is either vaporizors and edibles.

Silly federal government. They are slowly losing their grip over this matter, and this is simply a feeble attempt to justify their reasons in keeping the plant illegal on the federal level.

It's just a matter of time before they completely loose this battle by popular demand. Every state needs to follow suit and enact medical marijuana laws. It's time.

the only reason weed is still illegal even as a medicine is because you cant patent something that is natural. there for no money for the pharm companies so no desire to work with it. which happen to be the number one campain contributers to politicians...

Blowing O's is some don shit.
The ritual of smoking is supreme, with cheese.
I got the marinol from a friend who has a family member with cancer.
No stealing was used in the process, she sells her meds for dope.

well, the only reason I want marinol is because I wanna do it test on it. (kinda dumb, I know) but I wanna see if I were to take some marinol and get high today, I want to see if I would fail a drug test if I took it a week later.

At my probation, they use the same cheap drug tests you can buy at CVS or walgreens. SO I wanted to try some marinol, and give myself one of those home drug tests, and see what happens. I think I'll still probably fail, but I would like to do the experiment anyways.

I know people that have used Marinol, it's not really that pleasant. It's like pure THC, so while it might make you feel different, you don't get the full high that THC, CBD and other cannabinoids combine to give you with the plant itself.
