Is going into unlocked cars and taking change a felony? I did something extremely stupid last night, and parents tell me what happened was a felony.

dude your 15, and you opened up a unlocked car door for change, not a felony. Your parents and judge will try and scare you, but you will not get a felony off that, unless you broke a window or stole the car, and even then you could work someting out. just learn your lesson and dont go it again, you'll be alright

well, technically yes. Becuase it coud be considered trespassing, but like my friend said above. You can work something out and definately get away with it, unless you broke something or even just moved the car.

Oh, i was in a car, and a cop pulled up, and I didn't see 'till he was like right there. I tried to run, and I actually got pretty far, just I didn't have running shoes on and he caught me.

Lesson learned, I have to get a job to pay for the upcoming court fee's as well.

You NEVER run, nobody EVER gets away and they just get more charges slapped on.

Yeah, the city is the best to run in. My neighborhood just sucks 'cause it's a huge loop and either way you'll get busted eventually.

I should be getting the court dates in the mail on friday.

What level the charge is depends on the law of the state you are in. In Florida and many states, it would be "Felony Burglary of a Conveyance" (as in auto), "Misdemeanor Stealing" and "Misdemeanor Resisting an Officer Without Violence". If you fought with him, there could also be "Felony Resisting an Officer With Violence". At least three charges total, based on your discription. You should have had your ass beat by the owner of the car. Stealing from someone is just wrong. That is no way to share love. I do hope you learned something. Aside from the laws you broke, the most important thing is that it was just wrong.

that's not true i've gotten away from cops several times..
shit I don't think there has been a time I ran and didn't get away other then the one time I had to go to the hospital for a huge wound on my hand, and even then I watched all the little piglets roll up to my house before then from a hill in the woods, completely away from them. They even had a search team from me shining at the edge of the woods from somewhere I ended up going, I swear the light hit me! stupid cop. craziest night of my life.

BULL, I've ran from the police many times and never got caught, it all depends on the situation. If there is a distance between you and the cop, RUN, don't stop, DON'T EVER STOP AND HIDE! They'll find your ass, ha.

BTW, That is not a felony, B&E isn't even a felony I don't think. If you're 15 just play the cute ignorant guy case.

I was thinking more of when the cop already has you and you start running.

Oh, well then yeah, if hes right up on you and can see your face and there is a chance of recognizes you then don't run. Lately I haven't ran, last time a cop confronted me I had an ounce on me, just talked to him all cool like and he left.

I sincerely hope that anybody that attempts to steal any of my property, even small change, goes to jail and becomes Big Bubba's girl friend!
