It's not when I get fat that I get serious about being healthy, but rather when I get sick. I was looking on line for healthier ways of eating that will cause weight loss as well. I stumbled upon the Mayo Clinic website. My mom has used their food pyramid as a dietary guideline for years, btu I never knew too much about it. reading up on it now-It totally makes sense! I think I am going to try to eat along their dietary guidelines. Has anyone else used them as a starting point for developing healthier eating habits?
Food pyramids are an excellent way of starting a healthy eating regieme. I started off using one (not the mayo clinic one, but a near identical one), and have seen many patients being recommended them, with excellent results! What I personally like about them, is that they dont offer crazy reults from obscure diets. It's just a simple way of showing people what foodgroups they need to be eating lots off, and what foodgroups people should eat less of. Good luck with it - Can't really stress how good some of those foods on the base the pyramid are, both for weight loss and general health!
Not only that, you see exactly what you are eating when you actually break it down, eat em raw, eat em seperate, then you get full but you know exaclty what you had, you cared, your body will know it, you will be happy that you did it, it was exercise because you had to prepare it. Basically, don't eat out, keep fresh food around. Bite a dis nibble of that, go cut this, mix that, chew, wipe mouth. Ha I love to eat.
