How I would look with dreads?

Hi, i've been wanting to get dreads for over a year now, but have taken my time in the decision because i understand that it's not just a look, it's totally a lifestyle. i have a lot of piercings, a couple tattoos, i'm a vegan, i plan on joining the peace corp, i'm totally all about the lifestyle after a year of heavy thought. now i just need some opinions on whether i could pull them off or if i would just look stupid. because the lifestyle is totally do-able without looking like an idiot . and i would def. take care and maintain my dreads, i woul never neglect to wash my hair for a couple months and seeing what happens haha. tell me what you think!

 

i think you would look okay with dreads, especially if they still stay that wonderful curly shape after you knot them

 

thanks i'm not sure if my hair would stay curly or not, all i know is i have massively thick, curly hair and maybe dreads would help keep it in control haha.

I answered as though I was the people whose approval will really matter, the people that will pay her to do do stuff so that she can provide for herself or any family she needs to provide for.
Dreads are a statement, and it doesnt always make life easier. Someone has to inform people that fashion matters....

Hey hun...you'd look great! I personally think dreads enhance peoples natural beauty....and youve already got tons of that! But yeah...be aware that it takes guts to sport dreads. Not everyone will like you for it...many will cast judgements. It's totally lame...but a fact. Ive been growing mine naturally for almost 2 months now and havnt gotten a single compliment [well except for people on here!]. I dont look for compliments or anyhting...because my dreads are very personal but the only recognition Ive gotten from people in my day to day life are basically insults! My parents make it known that they hate them every time they see me....a lady that I work with stared in disgust the other day and then said "Wow...thats nappy!" [I actually took that one as a compliment even though she meant it as an insult] and uh....yeah....people who dont live it...dont understand it...simply put. But anywho....if your willing to make that sacrifice and your hearts in the right place [which it sounds like it is] than go for it!!!! and I wanna see update pics!! =]

woah. take it easy, crummy. i dig the negative comments but, thats a little harsh man. i'm not asking permission, i'll do the damn thing if i want to lol, all i am saying is that there is an undisputed fact that some people look rad with dreadlocks, but some people just look tragic and i was inquiring as to which i would be lol. but thank you so much everyone with positive comments! i appreciate it from the bottom of my heart . mandyland, you got my support girl, you have a beautiful face and i'm sure you rock the dreads like no other! don't let the haters get you down. i get that people don't understand but i can't believe they'd be so rude to you! i always go out of my way to compliment a nice set of dreads .

you will look amazing but not everyone will see that in you some close minded people will close the door in your face, while others will welcome you with open arms
dreads have a way of seperating the superficial
those who only care how you make them look will probly steer clear of ya (and thats a good thing) so you shouldnt expecyt universal exceptence but the acceptence you loose isnt worth having anyways

but whgen ut comes to looks you look amazing and dreads will only enhance that\
