every electronic wristwatch I have ever owned has gone to hell shortly after I got it (not the batteries, I just have a funky electromagnetic hum, it shows up on EEG's too) and I know my mom has it, and my aunt did, so,

    anyone else?

and, am I doomed to pocket watches for the rest of my life? or building faraday enclosures for my timepieces?

My last digital I lost to anonymous sex- I left it on her bedside table. I'm still pissed about that one- :(

Through the power of his mind psychic Uri Geller has been known to start electronic watches which have been broken for years, perhaps somehow the reverse is true with you

I like the Amazing Randi but his conclusions concerning the braking of wooden boards by Kung Fu Experts put somewhat of a damper on my enthusiasm

My step father had the same problem and it didn't matter digital or windup, expensive or cheap, two to three days tops and the watch died.

Nope, I just have a hard time changing the batteries. I have three watches that need new batteries.

Dave, have you ever tried wearing a wind up watch? An electro-magnetic field wouldn't mess it up. I've had the same 40 year old timex for the past 4 years and have changed the band 3 times. My only complaints are that after 40 years it's no longer waterproof and that the regulator can not be adjusted to a degree of accuracy better than +/- 1 min per week.

I've had a similar problem with flashlights, like six or seven different ones have broken within a week, usually with a day of my using them. Brand new heavy duty doesn't matter, everyone broke in a different way. One time at night, on acid, was out in middle of some woods and the flashlight dies, had to find my way back in pitch blackness and colorful visuals.

Does this have anything to do with streetlights going out as I walk under them?
