Supercool! I can't wait! I wasn't excited until I saw this but now I'm quite hot and bothered! Oooh!:cheers2:
Finally a trailer with bits of the film in it! I wonder if it will spin-off into a TV series.... I think Simon Pegg is going to murder Scotty though, I'm not sure it's going to work, but as a film in it's own right, it does look good.
Ah jist cannae wait... http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=qgg4_JGO3gg I think they should have casted in Ross as Q's father, that would have made for a good storyline, but instead they went for terminatory like premises.
I'll be surprised if I actually like the film. I met James Doohan once, you know, in a hotel in Edinburgh. I said to him, "Can you sign this for me please?", and he said, "Yes, ok then, here you go, next please." I have a signed copy of Relics on VHS, you know. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=cqgAT34ZekY
I love star trek I think that all of the mismanagement of the franchise over the decades has lead to so many breakages of continuity, we need a reboot we need a crisis on infinite earths, someone who loves it enough to fix it, find one continuity, that brings all of the best of it together, into one, unified, new continuity.
But there is no continuity in Star Trek, no-one really dies, unless they die in real life, and the whole of space time is completely fucked up, like an elaborate mobius tapestry. But yeah you right, since Roddenberry died, they turned it into the muppet show. DS9 was shit, and as for that Voyager.... Enterprise was good though. And Nemesis is my favourite ST film.
Yay! A Star Trek thread! It's about time... I've been following this on io9.com since the first news hit the internet. I've been disappointed with almost everything I've seen so far, but the trailer isn't bad. I don't know how I'm going to feel if they decide to make this the new continuity. I've heard some weird things about remaking the whole series and how this won't fit with canon and might be the new canon, etc. and I don't know how that's going to fly when the guy directing is a much bigger fan of Star Wars than Trek. Not saying it can't or it won't. It's just giving me icky feelings at the moment. I'll probably see it no matter what I'm feeling on opening night, but boy am I worried...
Ugh, I hope that's not the case here... How sad to wait so long for something good only to have it fall victim to that!
LOL, I don't know if anyone can guarantee that one. I really despised Enterprise (could only watch half of one epi), so as long as it's not like one big episode of that, I'm good. I really like Simon Pegg, though, so as long as he stays his awesome self, I think I can at least sit through a bunch of crap and wait for his scenes. That and the trailer makes the new Spock look pretty good (despite my initial reaction to his picture on the poster).
