Since the fall moving here from cali, I thought Chicago has a strong sense of intellectualism, acceptance and good taste even, so from the stupidity in southern cali all I have come across are little parasites of indie assholes of every shape and level and judgmental snobs of the most contemptables here so far in Shit-town. call me harsh but It has fed me up to the neck, There are! people who is otherwise is there not?..rue the day I thought so la di da about coming to the midwest.

but here is what (I) seek..!

With the enduring Spirit of the decent nuturing loving side of the 60s despite deaths, wars and strife, I live and breathe the defiance of that era and I'am a rock n roll lover of the past on an international scale, if color of skins cause you no barriers than neither should languages, to learn and to appreciate Difference is a luxury any American luckily has in a country rich with the beauty of diversity. I'm 25 and seek folks who understand the true meaning of unity, the bond of friendship, the weakness and destruction of substance abuse and drugs indulgence, the quality of being, strenght of identity as a person and the pursuits of intellectualism to free ones mind. I'am another kind of hippy altogether, the kind that stand for freedom and the right to take back yourself from the influence of stupidity branded by modernism and those from the media, the kind who common senses prevail gainst all that put restraint on ones growth, the kind who values what it is to accept another and love them for who they are if that is in fact who they are and not another mold from something other than.
I do not judge others for their choices but I know whom for me are the ones who are real, genuine, and the prolonging of my respect and admiration for. Let those who read this and to feel what I feel to come forward, to learn from each other and give cause for a few more smiles. If you have the strenght and spirit in mind as I do then you are my true love and soulmate as you will find others who are as well. There has bound to be many of us, And I shall but love you all equally in a new brotherhood of the arms in Art, Creativity, Music, and Passion. Never be a zealous because that to is dangerous and harmful, let your mind be your weapon and the kindness in your heart be the dictator.

If you click on me then there are means for you to come into contact. I'am but a Common voice calling out for you.

Chicago is just a name for an urban squat of land. There are exceptional people of all sorts in all kinds places; you just need to find them! It's a shame when someone like yourself seems enlightened, but can't find like minded people, but if you find yourself in the worst of the worst, (The Northwest Suburbs), let me know. We'd get along perfectly.

I support the art explosion of the 60's, with one foot on the accelerator. However, I also leave a foot on the brake when it comes to nasty drugs and war. G'luck!

I go to a small college near chicago and most of the people here are annoying. I kind of realized that you need to find the invisible outcasts because they are ALWAYS the ones who actually think. You can't think and fit in unless you're lucky enough to be surrounded by tons of thinking people. So maybe you're having the same problems I am.

i hear you! i too have been alone and alienate most of my life. i have found though that, anyone who thinks independently at all will be alienated from this society and, most likely any society. none the less, there are a few people you can make bonds with.

Sounds cool to me. I've come to learn never to hold any expectations about any new place I'm going to -- the letdown will just make it worse. People are very closed-minded all over the place. It seems like everybody's too busy being cool to be honest.

They play lots of old sixties stuff on VH1 Classics...I've been watching it lately and it's really inspiring. Not that I get all of my culture from my TV, or that I just sit around all night watching TV and pretending the people on TV are my friends because I don't have any real ones. ... :)

A lot of times people just come off as snobbish because they don't want to look stupid, too, so it's also up to you to be patient with people and give them a chance.

Chicago's never seemed like it would have too cool of people to me.

    Pittsburgh has cool people.
If I were you, I would've just headed north though. North Cali is fucking awesome.

dude take a look around chicago first before judging it, i have been there plenty of times myself to know that there are nice people there and was willing to help me out. the people youve been talking to have places to go and things to do, they dont have time to sit around to chat. so either look around more or again, get out. There are a lot of cool people there BTW

it could be how you're dressed. i find that people like that are attracted to people who dress like they do. it's like a uniform.

I agree..I think that there are hip people everywhere you go. That is not to say that some places are just not right for some people. But, in my opinion, life is ony what you make of it. I think that goes for the city you live in as well....I know my share of kynd folk from the city and surrounding burbs.

You can find cool and shitty people in every city, town, and village in America (and the world for that matter). Keep looking, and you will find people. I loved Southern Cali (lived in SD for three years). Then I moved to Virginia Beach, and didn't like it at first, but eventually found some like minded friends. Now, I am in the Nothern burbs of Chicago, and haven't really found anyone I really connect with but I know they are out there.

Chicago born n raised right here- judgin from what u wrote and believe, sounds like u belong up in the Belmont area on the north side. You can't really judge Chicago as a whole city- each neighborhood is its only little world n each almost feels like an entire city in of itself. Chicago is too big and diverse to make a sweeping generlization like u just made, unlike Orange County, where it's safe to assume everyone is rich, spoiled brats who use daddy's credit card for the rest of their lives. No personality, no character, no culture, which Chicago has plenty of within the people. If u don't like Chicago then you haven't tried to socialize enough with enough people here, in which case, you wouldn't be better off in any other world class city.
