After a few semi-sucessfull indoor crops, I got a few good seeds and decided to try my hand at an outdoor crop. Now with 2-3 weeks till harvest, the rains have come. I've read much on what to do if you get mold, but how can you prevent it, if mother nature wants to bring in the rains and cool evening tempertures? I have considered using 4-way connectors, pvc pipe and 6 mil clear plastic and construct semi-greenhouses to put over them while it is raining, and taking them off when it is not, but this seems like a massive effort, especially not knowing if it would work. Some say it may even promote mold. What do other growers do in this situation? Strains are snow, ak-47, and a local sativa dominent strain, all grown from seed and strickly organic. Thanks

Yeah id say break out that pvc and plastic- your wasting precious time thinkin about it. The less leaks you have ,the less likely they will mold inside a makeshift greenhouse.

This was a bad year in OR for mold! I used a spray of everclear & h202 {50/50} and sprayed before i removed a mold spot, so it wouldn't spread. It was effective in holding down losses.
Next year I plan on using a spray of baking soda/water with a small amt of neem thrown in. I read on OG that the soda brings the ph on the leaf surface to over 10. Mold can't grow.
I wouldn't use it in the last weeks of flowering because it might effect the taste.
If we have another year with cold rain in early sept I'll be right on them with this spray.
Mold won't form while its actually raining, its the standing water, it's important to shake the wetness off after rain and 1st thing in the a.m. I've seen the buds still wet at noon on a dry day just from the dew.
I used folding ladders and plastic to cover them that last bad rain we had that lasted 2 days and got mold spots. I have a good friend who had a greenhouse built and she had the same mold problems I did this year.
Praise God for the last week of strong sun we just had!!
    I harvested last night:)
    I hope u did 2 GGT :)
blessings on your sacred garden :)

i painstackingly cut out the mold, made my greenhouses as you said with pvc and clear"shower curtain"thicker and clearer than plastic.leave a foot or so off the ground at the bottom for air flow.not only did my plants like it,it allso got rid of the pesky morning dew you get even on good days.i was able to slow the mold conciderably on some and total cure on most.you got allot of bud there my friend i personally dont think its a massive effort like you stated in your thread when it comes down to final weight.and if so,they are huge, well worth it.i lost 2 oz dry on one plant to mold befor i decided to do somthing.even if a green house aint the best, its better than direct rain days on end.hate to hear it,seems all us orgonians had mold this year...fuqin mother nature...fall apart after i get legal...lol...good luck
