What are your favorite artists to listen to on DXM guys and gals? mine are: -Rammstein, a must for any DXM trip, i love the industrial sound -System of a Down -KoRn, i love the eeriness -Tool, goes with any serotonergic drug -Black Flag, gotta love 'em I'm basically looking for some more good stuff to listen to that would sound awesome on DXM, my music is pretty limited alot of it i've had for 5 years or so.
haha i'm on dxm right now... fun shit for sure. i like animal collective a lot when on any drug. also: Air, boards of canada, wolf parade, some iron and wine, calexico, pink floyd.
Tool for serotonergic, agreed! But when I do the dissociatives I listen to only two things. Yes, or Shpongle/similar groups like Younger Brother.
aphex twin- selected ambient works, richard d james album, come to daddy, window licker, drukgs, any of them really he makes such genius art if you like the weird glitchy abrasive drumnbass aphex twin check out squarepusher and autechre, they do their own thing but make music in the similar field if you like the ambient aphex... future sound of london- some of it is harsh.. Lifeforms (classic) is chill; My Kingdom and Cascade ep's are very good too.. Brian Eno- classic, i especially like Ambient 4: On Land for it's darkness and abstract form. earlier albums like Another Green World and Ambient 1: Music for Airports are very good indeed 70's miles davis albums, incredible spontaneous dialouges between 8+ musicians, with pretty much everything put through some sort of psychedelic sound processing treatment ... Live/Evil stands out most in memory, On the Corner is very good too. also Bitches Brew which is 69. maybe some Mahavishnu Orchestra- Inner Mounting Flame and Birds of Fire if you are into complexity, "prog" as people generally describe it Camel- the Snow Goose very epic "prog" album based on this old story about a dragon pillaging this guy Rhayader's town and stuff, instrumental no lyrics, very cool Stereolab- Cobra & Phases Play Voltage in the Milky Night Four Tet- Rounds, Everything Ecstatic Karlheinz Stockhausen- Kontakte Edgard Varese- Poem Electronique John Cage- so much diversity, but he is a godfather of art music Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention- Lumpy Gravy, also Freak Out!, We're only In it for the Money, Absolutely Free, We're Only In It for The Money, but anything he made is soo fucking genius the albums Paul's Boutique and Check Your Head (this one especially for me) are very well suited indeed, if you aren't opposed to rapping, which is understandable oooooohhh Jimi Hendrix- Are You Experienced, Axis: Bold As Love, Electric Ladyland (especially for me atleast), Band of Gypsys soooooo great Grateful Dead for when the sun is coming up... all their studio albums are fantastic up until Shakedown Street, their live sets... (like Dick's Picks for example) can be rough but there are many diamonds it just takes expert advice, which i can't give. Live Dead the album is so wicked. for coming down the Orb's first three albums are amazing cool down sounds (ha i coin that as of now)- Adventures Beyond Ultraworld, UFORB, ORBUS TERRARUM are all so great, actually the third one is more for when you are really thick in the peak of confusion, it is quite earthy though, whearas the first two are sooo spacey. you'll see. Ha, the last stretch of August was fucking crazy! I spent every night in space, so immersed in these records, and lots more, with my headphones on, or on the stereo speakers, only getting up to stumble and piss outside smoke a bowl or two, then find a new album to merge with. sooo good for the soul, but I must imagine it's quite hard on yer noggin.
I've tried all different kinds of music while on dxm... and it never works out for me. It always sounds strange, distant and unpleasant. So whenever I trip on DXM, I dont listen to music.
I know what you guys mean about it not working, like music will just sound very fucked up and not pleasant... Maybe you should smoke ganja, that very much changes the whole nature of the trip for me; slows things down, clears all of my thoughts out, calms my nerves, so I can just settle in (wherever I may be) and really trip out. Also try headphones vs. speakers, or maybe in a car vs couch or bed. For me listening to music is just about the only thing I do (did) when I (used to) trip out on the stuff. Movies, Walking, Dancing, and any form of communication (besides telepathy) is sort of hindered for me.
The only reason music sounds fucked up on DXM is because you're listening to the wrong kind of music. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about. I popped my friend's DXM cherry and he put some music on, it was stuff I would love when sober, but absolute garbage on DXM. Like, worse than garbage, it just ruined every moment of your consciousness. Explore music. Give psytrance a chance. There are entire genres and bands dedicated to improving the psychedelic experience. Music is simply a tool, and if it's not working for you, that's not because the tool is useless, it's because you're using the wrong one. It took me a long time to find the perfect tunes for dissociation, but I did, and I'm very grateful I kept looking.
ha, yeah man for sure, listened to those records sooooo many times through for years... all the twisted stuff Younger Brother, Ott, Hallucinogen, Prometheous. Anything else??? don't mean to blow you off, not trying to be an ass though it could sound like it in my sentence, but I love trading music and putting it up on this thread will benefit everybody. we have the internet, such a vast ocean of free music at our fingertips, should take advantage of it more, yknow?>> yeah Entheogenic is good also, but kind of bland compared to Shpongle imo, but very cool sounds, very psychedelic. Spontaneous Illumination is very good album, the newest two albums are pretty cool, but don't really progress past Spontaneous Illumination, very much the same, one is a remix album though... I've listened to it while dxm for sure, the new one Golden Cap, and I remember being really into it for like the first track, but after a whole album it kind of got old, i was ready for it to end before it ended. but hey!!! if anybody has their first record, it's self titled, I would be interested to trade on yousendit... also in that vein Bluetech has some really good psychedelic Dub music, it is really dope actually, like Shpongle but very Dubbed Out. also Hallucinogen In Dub mixed by Ott is really chill psychedelic downtempo music... ...if you like this new electro-dub stuff, I listen to ALOT of the older dub also Scientist- Heavyweight Dub Championship is my favorite of all time, and I have listened to SO many dub records man... Also, King Tubby, Lee Scratch Perry, Mad Professor, Prince Jammy are some other godfathers of dub music. soooo yeah sorry I tend to get into stuff like this, but please post up psychedelic music you like Mr. Writer, because anybody thats into Shpongle and Salvador Dali, I can resonate with. k gotta go do shit be back sometime,,, peace
yea, alot of music sounds really crappy on DXM but the stuff that DOES sound good, sounds REALLY good. I already have alot of shpongle their more about DMT and stuff so I don't listen to them alot. mainly looking for some industrial type rock bands
You might like Psytrance music. I never listen to it for chilling or on headphones, so many people report it being the shit for drugs. It has soo much energy I just can't imagine listening to that outside of a party where I am capable of dancing, but it is one of my top faves for that. check out (big names) Hallucinogen Raja Ram's Stash Bag vol. 1 Astral Projection 1200 Mics Goa Gil Prometheus (his newest album is quite crazy) people on here would know some more cutting edge underground stuff being made in that field too, check out threads on it in the LSD forum... Oh hey, you might like Acid Mothers Temple, they are fucking crazy psychedelic freakout band, and they are abrasive as fuck, I think they rock though. Check out Mantra of Love, Have You Seen The Other Side of the Sky?, or the new one Crystal Rainbow.... something I can't remember but it is ridic, they have like 30 albums and they're all good, and they are super crazy live too.
for me, the music euphoria stops when i start drifting from the third to the fourth plateau. then, the music starts to get in the way. but i used to get off on some of ensiferums songs like, lai lai hai, old man, and a few other ones. also final fantasy music is tight on it. on dxm, i like weird sounding stuff, bassy stuff, and complex stuff. im feeling you on that industrial type sound on it though. it suits the dxm atmosphere, know what im saying? when im really on a good dxm one, i'll get this sick ass music playing in my head, the perfect dxm music for me and the mood im in. the jester race album by in flames was a good one sometimes too. darkside of the moon is fun to hear too. damn, now im gunna relapse. edit: i almost forgot, who else likes to make music while on it? its more fun than listening to music while on it.
Well I did smoke, and I was listening to this psytrance, house, techno station that I listen to like all day, just got bored of it and went outside. Oh and yea music sounds better in the car or with headphones, I had more fun staring at the stars, maybe it was because I didn't plan the music out. Oh well, maybe next time I will have a playlist ready and get some decent headphones, I got plenty of crazy trippy music on my comp, just 1 headphone left.
for reals on the headphones. i bought a bomb ass pair of headphones one time just for my dxm trips. they got stolen though. i loved those things, they got Hz's from real low to real high. way better than any of these stupid ear bud things, i hate those.
Whoa this seems to be nice.. The very best of euphoric dance BREAKDOWN. trying to torrent explosions in the sky, that sounds like it might be nice.
