If anyone uses buprenorphine can you tell me how well it works? Im thinking about trying it to cut my opiate intake, any info would be great THX!!
I use suboxone (buprenorphine and naloxone) and it is excellent for quitting. Its also very strong so start with a low does and work your way up. Basically, It satisfies your body's need for opiates without getting you high. IT has a higher binding affinity than other opioids so it sticks to your brain receptors and wont let other opiates in. It is very long lasting (half life of 36-37 hours), so it's easy to taper off. Something the most people dont realize is that IT IS ADDICTIVE. If you taper yourself off from the beginning you shouldnt be in much trouble but if you keep it going for awhile you will definitely suffer withdrawals. The good part is that these withdrawals are NOWHERE near as bad as h/oxy/whatever withdrawals, though they usually come on 24-48 hours after your last dose. Ive had a good amount of experience with it so if you got any other questions dont be shy
I keep hearing online that it doesn't get you high, but every single person I know seems to think it does give a buzz. People are actually selling it on the street, and kids are buying it up. They are snorting it or letting it dissolve under their tongue, I don't know if that has much more of an effect though?
Just be careful thats shite can be dangerous, esp low tolerance users. This drug serves a valuable purpose and getting high is not one of them. Manifestations Manifestations of acute overdose include pinpoint pupils, sedation, hypotension, respiratory depression and death. Treatment The respiratory and cardiac status of the patient should be monitored carefully. In the event of depression of respiratory or cardiac function, primary attention should be given to the re-establishment of adequate respiratory exchange through provision of a patent airway and institution of assisted or controlled ventilation. Oxygen, intravenous fluids, vasopressors, and other supportive measures should be employed as indicated. IN THE CASE OF OVERDOSE. THE PRIMARY MANAGEMENT SHOULD BE THE RE-ESTABLISHMENT OF ADEQUATE VENTILATION WITH MECHANICAL ASSISTANCE OF RESPIRATION, IF REQUIRED. NALOXONE MAY NOT BE EFFECTIVE IN REVERSING ANY RESPIRATORY DEPRESSION PRODUCED BY BUPRENORPHINE. High doses of naloxone hydrochloride, 10-35 mg/70 kg may be of limited value in the management of buprenorphine overdose. Doxapram (a respiratory stimulant) also has been used.
Regarding the high/buzz: If you do not have an opiate tolerance and haven't used opiates a lot, then bup will get you high. If you do have a tolerance is pretty much makes you feel normal, but if you take a larger dose than you are supposed to i guess you can get a little somethin... Usually if i feel a suboxone buzz it just makes me want the real thing. Also the amount you have to do to get high is very close to the amount which can make you sick, and trust me, thats no fun at all. being sick from too much bup is like constant motion sickness/dizziness/light headedness for close to a whole day...sometimes even longer.
Ive been using subs for the past month or two, and have enough to last another few weeks, then I'm done wiht opiates, besides doin oxy in moderation once every few months. I started with 2 mgs each day, did that for about a month, went down a little to 1.5 or so for a week or two, now I'm doing 1 mg a day, then going down from there. I got tramadols, adderals , and xanax ( a fuckload ) if I have trouble withdrawling from the suboxone. I'm hoping it works.
DaPillMan420, I have been using suboxone for about two years now on and off but just recently switched to methadone. It is a great drug if you really want to quit using opiates. If you are second guessing yourself on your determination to quit I would suggest methadone. The suboxone works great for getting rid of the opiate withdrawls and it makes you almost feel normal again however I would get horrible cravings for opiates while on suboxone and also terrible migraines. My doctor was willing to switch me over to subutex which is the same thing minus the naloxone which is the opiate blocker. Kinda useless because the naloxone doesn't do anything besides deter people from injecting the suboxone. For me personally the methadone does a much better job because not only does it prevent the withdrawls it also curbs my cravings. Also the first time I came off of suboxone and graduated my detox program I had worst withdrawls coming off suboxone rather than just quitting opiates cold turkey or at least tapered. Anyways I am not a doctor and these are only my personal suggestions. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions. Milkdud39
I can attest to this. I was a casual opiate user but my friend was using it for treatment of his addiction. For me, small bumps were better than any opiate that I had ever had. A couple of bumps would have lasting effects for over 24 hours. Too much however would get me sicker than any natural or synthetic opiate WITHOUT THE RELIEF THAT VOMITING WOULD USUALLY GIVE. My friend started taking it in 2000 and still takes it now so yes although he doesn't do junk anymore, he is still very addicted to bup.
I am a regular advocate for Suboxone on this website. I have been on the same 6mg per day dose for over 6 months with few problems. It still gets you high enough that you aren't miserable, but is pretty much abuse-proof (if you get the film strips that is...).
