So our modern world can be a very hostile place. people nowadays are just so immersed in their material possesions, always technology. it can be good but to me it's just complicated.I FEEL SO OUT OF PLACE IN THIS WORLD WHERE PEOPLE (NOT ALL OF THEM BUT MANY) CAN'T EVEN TRY TO APPRECIATE LOVE, LIFE IN A GOOD WAY. I try to spread peace, tolerance and love around me but it's hard to SURVIVE in a place where you can see all kinds of violence every day but anway that's nothing compared to wats' goin on in Irak (for ex)!!!!! and i can't find people with the sam ideas around here (switzerland).

i JUST CAn't live in such a place when im surrounded by greedy consumers everywhere who just try to brighten up their lives with ... objects. youth suffers a lot from that.since my childhood i've been like that. actually i've always been a hippy but i didn't what it really was until this summer.

I try to live simply (well i still have the computer) with minimum objects and attitudes such as buying 2nd hand clothes, recycling.. etc the basic

"by and large, money buys happiness only for those who lack the basic needs"
i read this a few days ago and it's just so true but what would be the basic needs?? to me Love is one of them (of course)

DO you, experienced hippies (i prefer experienced to "old":)) think technology is helping this world in the good way?how do you live now?what are your remaining hippie attitudes?

a lost, lonely hippy who won't let his flower die

I was born a hippie and realized it as soon as there was a term for it.

The thing now-a-days that makes me feel better than anything else is knowing that I can take care of myself...

I grow most of my own food. I have no addiction to electricity or plumbing. I am an activist working constantly for positive change. I've helped start community organizations, arts and craft festivals, music festivals...

I've spent a good deal of my adult life trying to bring the light to folks who can't see it. It's frustrating and difficult, but a few souls have grown due to the push...

Over time and experiences, I see now that people who are ready to BE will find ME. It rarely happens the other way around. Trying too hard to spread light and love is like casting pearls before swine. It will wear you out and make you feel used.

My basic philosophy is that if you are at the end of your rope and in doubt what to do, stay honorable and set a good example. It is not wasted on those with eyes.

I stay at home mostly now days, home being a 115 acre organic farm. I can not buy the things that make me truely happy. Spending money feels like working for the bad guys to me.

I gave up trying to have the prettiest place on the road. I no longer feel I have to prove anything to those who are NOT hippys. If they are so shallow as to hate me simply because I wear bright clothes and smoke some weed, then they are far too shallow to notice how hard I work.

A great thing to do if you are a lonely hippy in need of moral support is to seek out a RAINBOW GATHERING. It will give you some hope for the future and some like minded folks to talk to.

I have felt the same at times , but , I decided a long time ago to build my own world within the walls of my home , a world thats hippie friendly where all my friends and loved ones can escape to.
The outside world will be what it is...but in my home , its MY world.
