45 minutes biking everyday, none stop full on biking, working fairly hard, just above the comfort zone. eating fairly well, cucumber is my favourite! will this get me fit? and how long (if so) would it take to get very fit?
i dont' know how fit you want to get, but over time, you should get in some form of good shape from biking and eating healthy. but yea, biking is a great form of exercise, especially since it has no effect on your joints...
yup it'll get you fit but you eventually might become bored. Variation between different exercises is a good way to stop this. Or what will happen is, after a few weeks of intensive biking at 45mins a day, your body will reach a plateau point where nothing more will happen to your body as in you'll only be as fit as your 45min bike ride. To stop this from happening, try to increase the time you spend on your bike by about 10 mins everyweek. And remember from now on you'll have to keep up with the exercise because once you stop, the weight loss achieved while exercising comes back twice as much, i think they call this, although i cant really remember, "the law of diminishing returns". also if you do happen to get abit bored with biking, Swimming a couple of lenghts a night is good as there is absolutely no stress on the joints and you build a good lung capacity.
if you get bored with just biking, try HIIT training on the bike - High Intensity Interval Training - its really good form of exercising and works so much better than just biking. and its shorter on time too.
bikin and eating right will get you fit it will take you some time though. i use to do the bike taxis for 10 hr with only a few brakes and after two weeks i wasnt exhausted anymore and i noticed a change in my legs and my breathing. so it could take you two weeks or so. good luck and have fun
