http://www.chooseveg.com/animal-cruelty.asp check it 0ut. i cried when i after seeing this. Warning: violent and bloody... and it's ALL REAL!!
I worked in a slaughter house for about 3 years, and ive never seen anything like in that video in my life. the vedeo has got the be the worst of the worst out there. all animals wher killed by hand with a bolt gun before being hung and bled. still theres is nothin pretty about killing animals, it was a small scale prodution facility where i worked specializing in cattle and pork. they could put through 700 animal day give or take. At the end of a production day things get pretty damned gory looking, and the whole place smells like shit and blood. you go home from work and last thing want to see is a steak on your dinner plate. I Used to enjoy a good cheap steak and wish I never worked at that place, I was happy in my ignorance. I'll never be vegitarian, but im verry verry picky about where my food comes from now. If I cant pin point the exact farm an animal came from and where it was slaughtered and butchered I wont eat it.
If you go to the pig one and listen to the scream of that pig...oh my God There are humans capable of that...They should be locked up for life, for everyones safety
I wonder how people can feel one way about dogs and another way entirely about cows and pigs. Can you imagine this happening to dogs? No one would stand for it. When I see these videos, it's the same to me as watching them slaughter my pets. I can't fathom how someone couldn't feel horror at seeing this. I know that we're all cruel on some level -- we kill bugs when we walk, microbes when we wash, etc. -- but these farm animals are so far removed from bugs and germs. These animals scream, kick, fight, whimper. They're so obviously afraid and in terrible pain. I just can't imagine... ugh... it sickens me.
That is humane compared to what people are capable of. Shit, maybe I'm a sadist. People treat dogs like pure trash too. Leaving them out in the cold, to starve, ect. Much worse than using them as a food source. Telling someone what they eat is wrong is terribly shortsided.
I can't watch these videos... I'll honestly have a panic attack... but what the hell is in it? some description here
I have no sound on my computer, so all I saw was flapping wings and sick birds before I got bored and turned it off. I'm veg too: lacto-ovo. Fricknfrack, if you're thinking veggies, by all means go for it. Do some research, but ease the meat out. It's much easier that way. Oh, and after easing out of the meat try it for a couple of weeks before committing, so you know if you can even digest the meat after going veg. I can no longer: it makes me vomit and I don't really know why. . . but that's a fairly common side effect. The thing that does bother me: I've seen factory farming firsthand. Yes, it's gory and a bit sickening. I've seen the trucks of dying birds. My big issue, because I place my own species before others (evolution, food chain, and the like. . . Can you tell I didn't go veg for animal rights purposes?), is "OH MY GOD, WHAT MICROBIAL MERDE IS GOING IN OUR STOMACHS?" I also know two things. 1) Most of these exposes of factory farming are severely edited and doctored. It's gory, but that's carnivores/omnivores. Watch the Discovery Channel. At least humans wait until the animal is dead before chewing on it. Alligators and wolves. . . not so merciful. 2) There is such a thing as local farmers. I get my eggs from an elderly gentleman who farms chickens. Why? Because he loves chickens. You should hear him talk about his breeding hens. His passion for birds feeds him, because he does kill a lot of his excess chickens for food, and when he sells them at market he supports his own lifestyle. His chickens live happy, healthy lives: the only discomfort any of them get is a momentary twinge of "What are you doing with that axe?" We should all be so lucky. I'm all for vegetarianism. It's wonderful for your health, and wonderful for the planet if done right. Remember that it takes 10lbs of corn to produce 1lb of beef. I think that killing an animal for it's protein is ridiculous if you can eat the eggs or drink the milk to get the protein: a steady supply. However, if you're thinking about it, don't make a decision based on a propaganda video. Read both sides of the story, if the animal rights is your issue. Go talk to the local farmers. I'll give you a hint: find the oldest, dirtiest Mom-and-Pop diner at five the morning. They're probably there.
