in a way I am, but a lot of the true complexity and bitterness of it get lost in the metaphor

but everyone gets "casting couch" so I don't have to do as much explanation with the mataphor

plus, as with all metaphors, there is a certain degree of transcription error.

although, harry chapin's second wifes grandfather, did believe this metaphor in quite a literal way, he was a well thought of american philosopher, there is a really nice set of arguments he put together about how the world IS a stage, and we all ARE players, and it is all artificiality, I do not ascribe to this belief, but it makes the metaphor much more fun when someone is familiar with his work.

Dave you've been programmed to feel this way, i hope that makes sense sooner rather then later.

I know what you are saying, I know why you have made that interpretation.

I also know it to be inaccurate.

but you have telemetry limited to those posts of mine you have read, and interpreted in such a way as you are able to interpret them.

I know that I am insecure, and I know that I have tendencies to actively avoid things that are popular, I also value order more than most people here (seriously, that lightning bolts music, with it's contrived iterative chaos is just irritating to me)

I also know that I hold many fewer delusions than most people around me. that is something I am very happy with, and just llittle bit proud of, not to the point of hubris, though I do suffer from that defect in many areas, but, it is important for me to strip my self of unreality.

I try to trace each of my thoughts back to each of the events which has influenced it, and, thanks to my wiring, that method of thought is really quite natural for me.

for example, I know a lot of why I have chosen the spiritual path of a quaker stems from a conversation I had with my grandfather when I was eight. I had just learned about the bibles mention of a "flaming wheel" in ezekiel, and how it was being tied to UFO sightings. obviously, this conversation is not the only factor that influenced my choosing this path, but, it set me down different investigative paths than I would otherwise have followed.

and I do that with almost every significant new thought that crosses my mind. and, I assess the value of each of these influencing events, they come up for review on a fairly regular basis also, which leads me to reassess my stances, my thought processes, everything.

we are, each of us, programmed to an extent, but, I at least, like to believe, that my brain functions as a turing machine.

instead of a simpler, breadboarding, instruction following simple parallel processing PC.

Its the desire to believe that, which is decieving or perhaps im delusional im not actually sure. But none the less to me Dave, you are a small child with a vastly superior intellect, that may not be a fair assesment but it is how i feel and it makes me smile. :)
