I was born with this dent in my chest. Now its not necessarily extreme like some cases, but it is still noticable. Ive been thinking that exercising and weight lifting can help remedy this. Especially by focusing on pectoral muscle building exercises.

But im not sure whether this will work or just make it worse. I hate this condition of mine, it has played a role in my lack of self confidence. I am weary about doing surgery, and, if body building does not help, are there any other natural ways to help this?

For pics of my chest, here is a thread i posted a while back.

    thank you.

yeah i had this taken care of as a kid, sorta. they put a bar in, popped out the dent into a slightly smaller dent, took the bar out. not worth the pain and agony except for the self confidence part.

as far as bodybuilding goes, any muscle tone will look healthy and attractive. this uncommon feature does make my chest muscles look ripped. i started doing all kinds of pushups and sit ups. since i'm ridiculously skinny and have no fat, i look pretty well built and when i flex my pectorals there is a clean and muscled line going down the very middle of my chest and abs.

for serious, just get yourself some whey protein and start going to the gym and doing cardio(running/swimming). you'll quickly notice how nicely t-shirts will look draped over your chest muscles. good lucks.

i've had a girl tell me i look aerodynamic because of it, i thought that was cool.

ha ha, aerodynamic, thats so awesome.

but thanks, ive heard that muscle building would only make my condition worse, but its good to hear otherwise from someone else going through it.

    :cheers2:

You know, I have a minor case of the complete opposite of this, i think its called Pectus Carinatum.

All it means is that my sternum angles out slightly. makes my chest look kinda funky

You don't have to subscribe to normality :D

depends where the dent is s

exersising is alwasy a good idea, regardless of who you but, but just a warning

fucusing on only one muscle group is never a good idea. and with the pectoral muscles. If they are over streangthend beyond the back muslces the shoulder and neck, they will start to pull your shoulders together and make you looked hunched over. which you probably dont want

so if you start training, include all muscle groups, mix it up and have fun, bordom and repetition will kill any exersize program.
