Just some random info from the grocery world, one of the vendors today was telling me how coke and pepsi aren't making 2 liter bottles anymore. Something about stores wanna keep doing their special sales but coke and pepsi won't come down on the price, so 1.5 liters is going to be the new standard starting in a month or 2.
Yeah, it is the only way they can still make a profit and run sales with them being under a $1. A lot of items have been reduced in size to keep the price down.
I've never seen a 1.5l. 2ls are a fucking ripoff though $1.77 at the discount grocery store and nearly $3 at the convenience store.
Could always go generic, soda is one thing though I think where you can notice the taste difference with the store brand
I don't actually drink that much I don't know what I'm complaining for. I agree though we had discount cream soda the other night and it tastes the same as crush.
at my store we can buy 2 litres of cola for only 1$. my dad is a firm believer in soda being way to expensive at places such as mcdonalds and other restaurants, because there you buy one 1/4th of the amount of soda for alot more money. he's going to be pissed if its downgraded to 1.5 litres
depends on what it is.. when i drank soda.. i loved orange soda and would drink any kind cuz they all tasted awesome
a LOT of food items are decreasing their sizes to keep from raising the actual price, cereal, ice cream charcoal just to name a few.. its just another way to keep the consumer blind to inflation..
i don't know how a 2litre bottle is a ripoff, its the most inexpensive way to purchase soda. 1 liters, and cans are way more expensive per ml than 2 liters are and i seriously doubt this keeps consumers blind to inflation... most everyone would notice a 1.5 liter compared to a 2 liter. were all pretty used to the pretty universal size and weight of a 2 liter bottle stuff like cereal and what not would be more difficult to detect, although whenever i purchase food or anything i always read for the weight and compare that way for price and id suggest to go with generics too... if name brands want to waste their money on advertising and loose sales to a less expensive product thats on them. cereal is the worse offender in this case, you can get those huge ass bags for the price of a tiny ass little brand name box. its ridiculous
I was saying it is a ripoff here relative to the prices you guys pay for the same thing in the states. So is everything, saw an article a while back contrasting prices between Canada and the US. Even when our dollar was higher we were stilling paying quite a bit more for the exact same products.
oh i see what your saying, my bad i remember being pissed off that beef jerky was so damn expensive when i was up in canada, same thing with candy... at least you guys got some very tasty and unique candy compared to the states haha
did you notice a 10 pound bag of charcoal is now 9,or that a half gallon of ice cream is now a pint smaller or that a a jar of mayo is now 30 ounces instead of 32? the fact is the list goes on and on and id be willing to bet there are things you buy every week at the grocery store that you never even noticed shrank in size.. granted knocking off a half litre probably will be noticeable but most things consumers dont notice. thats why they are doing it..
