I just seen this movie for the first time since I was a kid, I forgot how surreal it was. Kinda reminded me of a Cronenberg movie.

I just saw it the other day, Its awesome and confusing.

    ***Spoilers***
I still dont get how in the end he found out about the Ladder from the chemist if he was still there the whole time on the table dying.
Maybe he is the one who made the drug and felt guilty about it.

It's a great film, because the horror is subtle and not in-your-face.

    ***spoilers***

I think that his encounter with the chemist had something to do with his spirit needing to find peace before he died-- so he actually came back to life, but was trapped in a kind of limbo that consisted of both 'heaven' and 'hell' aspects as they fought for his soul, and finally upon finding the answer he was able to ascend to heaven.

I've seen this film twice. Once about 12 years ago. Then again about 6 months ago. I didn't know what to make of it the first time around and knew I'd have to watch it again at some point, with new eyes. After hanging out in the conspiracy forum here, this film I think has several layers going on.
