I have been taking opiates for about a year now. since i take them so infrequently i haven't developed much tolerance. However, i have smoked alot of marijuana and i noticed tha as you smoke weed for a while, the high ges less intence and not as exciting as when i started. i was wondering if i should expect the same from lortabs and such. does the high get weaker? will it ever go back to normal if it does get weaker? if so, how long would it take to get back to normal? thanks for the help.

Prolonged use of basically any drug is going to result in the person using it developing a tolerance; opiates are no exception.

Say you get a good buzz off 20mgs of whatever pill you like to use and start doing it on a nightly basis. Sooner than later, 20mgs is going to turn into the "same old thing" or start to not even give you a buzz and you'll have to increase your dosage accordingly. Once this starts to happen, take a good two weeks (or at least one if you're using a lot and can't wait that long) and let your tolerance go down, which it will to some degree.

For a short answer.. YES. Not only will your tolerance go up but the high just isnt as good no matter how much you take. I remember back in the day taking 2 percs and being in dreamland and now, after being addicted to OCs and H, I don't really enjoy the high all that much. Its just not being high which I really dislike. The high just makes me feel normal, if i'm realllly high ill get all nod-y and shit but its nowhere near as awesome as it used to be. A few weeks after I quit the first time, i decided to blow half an 80. Now that should be pretty good for someone without a tolerance, but for me it was just ok. Comfortable and normal feeling. No matter how much I did I couldn't get the high I was looking for anymore...which is why I turned to the needle.

If you keep your usage infrequent you'll be fine, and the high will be the same, but once you're addicted it will never be the same.
    (like the dramatic ending?)

yes. eventually it gets so serious that you'll end up doing enough opiates to kill several people just to function normally.

^ Yeah that's what sucks super hardcore about opiates. They're PHYSICALLY addicting. You CAN'T stop after a certain point.

    rofl. so true.

The answer to ur question Ganjabeliever is: Yes.

And how long it will take for your tolerance to go down all depends on your body chemistry along with the amount you've been taking, what you've been taking and how steadily, plus your metabolism.
