someone i know has become addicted to heroin. he started out snorting and is now shooting up, his arms already scared hard from needles. he is supposed to enter rehab soon, but don't know if he'll actually go through with it. all his close friends and his girlfriend do heroin too, so he has no support. i talked to him about trying to help him out using a san pedro ritual. he said if it would really cure him then he'd try it. i have never attempted this but i believe it could help. has anyone attempted this before and have advice on what i should do and say? i have the basics in my head, i need some advice tho.
i've never heard of it, but i would surely go to your local physician or substance-abuse center and ask them. they might be helpful, or not, you never know, but they are always open to offering suggestions. and there is no way to cure your self from an addiction overnight like that (that isn't safely monitored in a coma at the hospital), incase you were thinking it is a fast solution. if you're worried about him getting arrested, then if (when) he gets caught he will have to go through rehab/jail. depending on how long hes in for, he could really get the help he needs as long as he stays away from the people who bring that nasty shit into the general prison population. if you are worried for his life, and he can't commit himself to rehab, i would wait until he has some on him and call the police. yeah its dick, and yeah he'll probably hate you for a while, but if he can get himself clean in prison and manage to distance himself from his friends who use, it will be for the best in the end.
Maybe it will help him see things from a different persepctive, not much can be said about the physical symptoms... I simply don't know. Try googling "ibogaine". It is said to play a huge roll in opiate addiction and rehabilitation.
Yes, a strong psychedelic experience can help somebody in committing to recovery. It is still up to the individual to make the recovery happen, though. The psychedelic experience may help them view their situation from a new perspective, possibly giving them the added clairvoyance needed. Of course, this could backfire as well.
Supposedly, research is underway to determine the effectiveness of salvia divinorum in fighting addictions. Apparently it is quite effective? Professional help is the best established path, though, clearly...
first let me say it can be done. peyote cactus and san pedro both have the ability to cure powerful addictions, but only with an experienced guide who knows the plant and has the trust of the addict. i have never attempted this, but i believe in combination with a good professional rehab program it would be beneficial. the NA 12 step program works by reinforcing the notion that the addict is powerless and the intervention of a higher power will be the only way to get through the addiction. a strong san pedro mesa ceremony can skip all 12 steps, and the cactus intervenes, as well as the higher power within the person and the guide. but not everyone can accomplish this. as a person with a very close relationship to these cacti, from growing, brewing, and even dreaming(long story), i can tell you it will only work if you create the strong clear intention for healing your friend, and you both must utilize an almost meditative concentration to achieve this. otherwise you will just be swept away into the visions and sensations of the experience that may throw your ceremony off course. i recommend you take a few days to make sure your friend is sober, and that you have a clear mind going into the experience. also use at least 4-5 feet of fresh cuttings for the brew, since it will need to be strong. if you need any more help constructing a ritual please pm me. these people here also work ceremonially with san pedro.they can tell you more about the cactus' capacity for great healing. http://huachuma.ning.com/ good luck. i will be praying for you and your friend's success.
im really hoping that the mescaline will open his eyes, wake him up. i know after the things ive seen tripping, that i could never devote my life to an addicting substance like heroin. the hard part will be keeping my friend in a meditative mind state so that i could help him, instead of him just getting caught up in pretty colors and whatnot. what if he trys get a fix while hes tripping? do i tackle him and hold him down till he gets over it? maybe if he goes and trys to stick that needle in his arm while hes tripping, hell be like "wtf am i doing to my body?". i can only hope tho.
