    Hi grrls,

Ewwww I'm having a huge problem... If you'd read any of my other posts in this forum, you'll know I have endo and it's gross.. but this is new. Last night was the worst pain I've had in years. Years. I'm 22, I've been having these problems since I was about 14... and I feel like I'm 14 again, screaming in my bed and bawling my eyes out. My painkillers didn't work last night at all - all that kicked in about them were the nastyass side effects, but none of the actual "pain killing" parts. Pffft. But here's where it gets worse:

I was getting ready for class, when all of as sudden I had this HUGE pain, like a sharp, getting-ready-to-explode kind of pain, sort of around my groin muscle, hip bone area. I ran to the bathroom, and ended up passing this massive amount of blood. I mean, I was sitting on the toilet for about 1/2 an hour, and it just kept coming. And then, to make things worse (and even more gross) this blood clot the length of my forearm came out... followed by more blood. Is this a hemmorage? Should I be concerned? I feel beyond dizzy, and tired, and so so so sore in my pelvis right now. I had called my gyne about 2 weeks ago, I had been having some pain and wanted to check in - but she can't see me until Dec. 2. (the fun of needing a specialist!) Anyway, what can I do? I missed my lecture tonight, we were (i think) having a quiz, and I really don't want to tell my prof (mario) what happened! But should I go to the doctor? Could it have been a cyst rupturing or something??

Needless to say, I'm freaking out right now. Any answers would be appreciated.

    Much love!

It sounds like you might have had a cyst that ruptured, but just to make sure, there wasnt any chance you could have been pregnant, is there? Also, if you are having very pronounced cramping (almost feels like your uterus is "pushing" something out) it could be that you did have a cyst rupture and the clot from the explosion site is just finally coming out. I had a cyst rupture once, but much less blood was involved. Another scenario is that it was just a really bad period that didn't start on time. Was the blood clot really dark? Or was it lighter in color? If it was dark, it is old blood and mucous, and depending on how "solid" it was, would determine where it came from (stringy and bloody: somewhere around the tubes or the walls of your uterus; clumpy and lumpy and bloody; probably came from somewhere lower, around the cervix, in which case you may have had a very slight infection (maybe from a hormone imbalance, it happens more than you think) which plugged up your cervix. Then it was time for your period, and all the pressure from the surmounting blood and mucous finally made the plug around your cervix "pop" and henceforth gushed out the "period" that should have taken a few days to empty out, rather than a few hours.). Hope all is well, and if the pain does not go away within 24 -48 hours, I would suggest going to an urgent care clinic. Also, if you continue to bleed like you described, for more than 8 hours, or if you feel faint, weak, and/or nauseous, you should probably go to urgent care as well. Copious amounts of blessings and well wishes to you, and good luck, I hope that you feel better. Sorry about the rambling and "yummy" choice of words...

Thanks ladies... yeah I'm a little concerned. I think it may have been a cyst.. I had one a few years ago (when I first starting having trouble), I was 14 and they put me on the pill to see if it would go away, which it did. I felt really dizzy for a while afterwards, so I ate some beef (wouldn't you know it, I'm also anemic lol *rolls eyes*) and laid down for a while. Now the pain is back, though not as intense as before, but it's all over my stomach, like the upper part, not just the pelvis part anymore. And I'm nauseus. Really, really nauseus. As for the "was I pregnant" question, I don't think so. I mean yah, I'm sexually active, but we're REALLY anal-retentive about birth control. I'm on the pill, plus we use condoms... so my guess is no, I wasn't pregnant. At least I hope not. I think I'm going to go to the doctor tomorrow, if I feel up to the bus ride. (Pretty bad when you feel too sick to go see the doctor!)

Tyedyedeyes (love that name!) it didn't really feel like a push, it felt like a POP like something broke or burst or something... lol my first thought was appendix lol but that's cos i'm a hypo... but yeah it was definitely that kind of feeling. *sigh* I dunno... I appreciate the insight though, you know a lot about women's health, that's excellent! I try to stayed as informed as possible, but sometimes it's so confusing! Thanks again! I'll post when I get to the doctor and get a better idea. Although, if it was a cyst and it burst, and ultrasound (what they'd probably suggest) wouldn't likely show anything anyway, would it...

I'd go to a walk-in clinic or a hospital if your gyno can't see you for practically two months. You're in Canada, we got the whole medicare thing going on(Tommy Douglas is the man), they should be at least able to run some tests to determine how bad of a situation you got goin on (it might be something that will just fix itself, but if you have other health issues as well, I'd worry about it)

That said, I get really nauseous sometimes if I don't eat properly, especially if I don't eat food with some sugar in it, and food at first seems really nasty and gross, but try something. Tea even, would be better than de nada.

you should get lots of iron after losing all that blood.
also there are lots of herbs which are benifcial to the female reproductive system, raspberry leaf in particular is good for your uterus..

    be well

I also have endo and a major problem with uterine and overian cysts.

I think that the next time that happens (where you get the blood) you need to go straight to the ER, becuase I have had cysts rupture, but nothing like that has happened to me before (except for when I miscarried - there was a lot of blood and some large blood clots). But the rest of your symptoms sound like a ruptured cyst, expecially the pain aroung your grion and hip area...thats exactly where mine is with a burst cyst.

An ultrasound probably wont show a burst cyst.

I definitely don't think I was pregnant... I'd already had my period like normal for about three days. I dunno... I tried to go to the doctor but I couldn't make it up the stairs to get out of my apartment. I guess I'll try again tomorrow. Thanks for all the imput, it's so nice to know I'm not alone. Sera Michele, do you usually have pain around your groin too? Thanks for the hugs Staci *Cher hugs Staci back* us chicas gotta stick together!

I think you should start taking Prenatal Multivitamins to keep your Iron up. I used to be Anemic and my gyno recommended that to me. I had horrible periods but never as bad as that.

Goodluck sister and keep up the Iron. When you are anemic you are very weak and dizzy. You can even just take Chelated Iron supplements to boost you up.

Yes, when I had a cyst burst at first (before I knew what it was) I thought I was going to have a horrible bowel movement because my groin and lower back area (near my tailbone) was killing me.

I get cysts on my ovaries that are twice the size of my overies...kinda scary, and painful.

That sounds kinda similar to what I had. *groan* I hate this, never knowing what's going to happen one minute to the next! Before the endo crap started, I didn't mind menstruating. Yah, it meant darker pants lol but that was about it. But now... Well I have an appointment booked for Dec 2 with my gyne - maybe she'll have some answers. Although I'm sure her solution will be having a scope, which, I'm sorry but I don't have time to do right now. I'm away at school, and really can't be recuperating from pelvic surgery while living on my own and trying to attend classes, cook, take care of sgt. p, etc... At least the worst is over, I started my new pack of pills today, and the bleeding has pretty much stopped. I have some "stopping" cramps, more like little contractions (no, I don't mean I feel like I'm in child birth lol I'm sure it's a lot worse) but after the last few days, this is nothing I can't handle. Thanks for the support, it means a lot to not have to deal with this alone. *hugs*

Be careful with prenatals. Unless you have CLINICAL iron deficiency anemia, too much iron is NOT good for you. Most prenatals have too much iron for a healthy PREGNANT womyn, (as well as extra stuff you don't need if you are not pregnant.) Too much supplemental iron is bad for your circulatory system, so don't take iron supps unless you have a real diagnosis of iron deficiency anemia. And even then you should be tested in a couple of months and STOP the iron, unless you are still anemic.

I advise my lactation clients to not take prenatals, as they are just TOO much.

I went to the drug store yesterday and talked to the pharmacist, she recommended these "One-A-Day" mulivitimens for womyn, specifically. I'm going to give them a try, but I hope I don't die lol what I forgot to mention earlier, I think, is that I'm allergic to medicinal iron.. these pill things have just a teeny bit, so it might help without sending me to the hospital! One can only hope.

I was taking the one a day after the birth of my youngest too. I'm still breastfeeding god help me lol, but I quit taking them. It really sounded like a cyst rupturing to me too. I had a cyst on my ovary also, have had many, and my family docotor told me it will feel very much like you described if it ever were to burst and to get to the clinic or hospital if that happens. good luck to you Supergirl, and don't forget, school and work and all that shit, doesn't matter much if you aren't well enough to get there, or god forbid, are dead. so take care of yourself first girl!! :)

Oh Super_Grrrl... That sounds like a horrible ordeal. I would have been terrified. I've experienced extreme pain, but not combined with extreme bleeding. You are in my thoughts. Please go to the doctor, even a clinic, ASAP.

    Update update....

I went to the doctor today, since I had a repeat of the pain/gushing/yucky on Monday. Thankfully I'm not being sent for an ultrasound (I hate ultrasounds) but I did have an internal... with both the finger AND the duckbills! Nothing like a little early morning violation to get your day started right lol j/k anyway she didn't see anything weird, like polyps or fibroids, so we've concluded it's something to do with the endo. She said it's probably a build up of some scar tissue that my body's just had enough of, so it's "kicking it out" so to speak. At least she gave me a note for the class I missed monday night. So I guess that ends the great mystery, at least it's nothing horrible. And I've switched back from Diane to Marvalon, which should help as well since Marvalon is a stronger dosage. Thanks to all the wonderful womyn here who offered their support **big hugs all around** It's so much easier when you have friends to help you out :)
