Lately, like in the last 2-3months, my periods have been really weird. The period (i think) i've just finished having wasn't like it is normally is, it's usually heavy in the first couple of days then gets lighter eventually and i normally go for around 7 days, this ones only lasted 4 days and i've already "dried out", it would flow for abit then stop and so on. Im not on the pill either, im affraid to go on it b/c of the side effects. i havent had sex in 3 months and when i did i didnt use protection (stupid I know) but i dont think im pregnant. i've also found it difficult lately using tampons as they never felt like they were in the right place and were uncomfortable even when they were in far enough yet they're usually alright normally. They didnt hurt when they were in there though. Arrrgh man whats going on with me, does anyone have any advice on this or should i just go and see a doctor?
Oh dear.... I'm not trying to be an alarmist, but that sounds like PID or endo or something similar. (PID is Pelvic Inflammatory Disorder) I have endo, and I absolutely can't use tampons. If it's been just the last couple of months though, it might be something else, like a cyst, or some kind of hormonal imbalance. You didn't mention how old you are though, so makes it harder. If you want to go the doctor it might be a good idea, but they'll probably just advise you to go on the pill. Good luck, let us know what happens!
If you have PID or endo, does it hurt? because i dont feel any pain @ all even when im using tampons, its just that the tampons dont feel like their sitting in there right. Im 17 btw.
Well if the tampon just doesn't feel like it's in the right place, then that's probably not a PID or endo issue. Now, that's not to say that if you have endo you're always going to feel pain... we just found out my aunt has it, when they cut her open to do her C Section - she never had any pain. (As for PID, I don't know for sure) All I know is that if you have endo, you often have trouble using tampons. This does NOT mean that if your tampon isn't comfortable you have endo though. You maybe want to try a different kind of tampon, like something slimmer??
thanks for the info super_grrl. im still a little confused about my current period, its started again, it stopped yesterday, it keeps doing this, getting abit confusing now. it started off quite light as well, not something that usually happens when its "that time of the month" to me. any thoughts about why my period might be abnormal?
hey vic i thought id search this out after u mentioned it when my gf had her "womenly problems", as ill put it, there was a lot of pain, and quite often.. i cant really remember how her periods were but i dont think there were tooo unusual.. if its really wierd and worrying you should probly see a doctor but i dont think itd be too serious, but i dont know much. i dont see it being endometriosis or similar but yeah, again i dont know much. and if youve been having periods for the last 2-3months i dont think youre pregnant, no matter how wierd they are
I used to use tampons back when I was younger, but quit using them due to being afraid of TSS. I used to get awful headaches when I used them, but, when I DID use them, sometimes I had the same feeling you're describing. I almost felt like the tampon was "hitting something" and not being properly inserted, although I had used the tampon correctly. I was worried, but I found out that the reason it felt like I was hitting something, was because my bladder was full and making it harder for the tampon to be inserted all the way inside. Try emptying your bladder before inserting the tampon, and see if it makes things any easier. Another thing is to change the type of tampon strength or brand that you're using. When I would try to use the "super protection", it almost always felt uncomfortable, as though it wasn't in there right. As far as your period goes, I would talk to your doctor about it. It could be just some kind of phase, but it's better to get it checked out for your peace of mind! If you think that there is a possibility of pregnancy (which, you stated that you hadn't used protection the last time you had sex), you either take a HPT, or consult your OB for either a urine test or a HCG blood draw, which is the most accurate pregnancy test. It could be, that you've been subconsciously concerned/worried that you MIGHT be pregnant, and this could be affecting your cycles. Believe me, the mind is a very powerful thing. When I wanted to be pregnant, I would have every symptom in the book, but not be pregnant. The mind can play tricks on you. Check with that doc! Much peace...
Another thing you may want to just consider is if you have recently changed your diet, excersise routine (more or less), weight gain or loss, stressful situations, even the changes in the seasons can affect your cycle and your period itself. If your periods ever become painful, or absent, then I would check with your doctor. Of course, consulting your pysician is up to you entirely, but I would give your body a couple of months to get into the swing of things, so long as you're not in pain, see if your period changes permanently (mine did, when I was younger-when they first started at 12- they were always heavy and crampy..when I got older, about 16 or 17, they got lighter, and, well, now I have an IUD so I dont have them at all, but anyways...) or if it goes back to what you were used to. But I do suggest a precautionary pregnancy test...Best of luck to you...
lots of usefull information that i will take into consideration. Thanks everyone i'll wait alittle longer if im guna see a doctor or take a pregnancy test as i dont really think im pregnant but you never know huh :-S. i have been under alot of stress lately though, maybe this is whats causing the disruption....
