any input by the over 40 crowd about dosing for the first time? The young mind is powerful and adaptable; resilient and recoverable. Is LSD only a miracle for the young?

Extensive experience with salvia and mescaline and weed. Basejumper, skydiver, extensive world traveler. Not remotely religious. Dont understand spirituality, as anything but a crutch. Am a rationalist, an empiricist, a scientist. As a writer used to be a deep thinker, but not remotely anymore, although, i do miss that young mind in a way...

How unfortunate to have your worldview so sterilized and surgical-steel-esque. What good are all those travels and activities if the most you can gleam from them is some logical sensory data and the notion of chemical impulses telling you to feel good, in place of something deeper and inherently more profound?

Oh well. It's your paradigm, and I respect your right to have it!

i think being older would make it better. unless you came out of it with a life changing epiphany... in which case.. you might be sad that you are old.

however I think that having a developed mind would only be a problem in terms of getting over the things you have been sure all your life.. which young people don't really have

Well I you pretty much just described me, minus the world traveling, and my experiences with LSD are all beyond glowing. I doubt that there's anything inherently different about a mind your age, and a mind my age, as it pertains to drug use and epiphanies.

Personally I think you sound ready. IMO the only requirements for a good lsd experience are a healthy, happy, intelligent mind.

i always imagined an older person taking lsd for the first time like a glass cube breaking and shattering into a million pieces.

younger egos tend to have a whole lot less to them, and essentially what lsd does is breaks down your ego and makes you re-evaluate yourself. imagine how much more ego you would have in your 40s, had there never been lsd to break it down in your youth.

Its like wine, the older you are, you apprettiate it more and understand more. As for ego loss goes, that is a bit more difficult, but since you are skydiver, you look to me like you are ready to let go much easier then others, so I think you can only benefit. It will give you chance to rethink your deep thoughts from the different angle.
Its like a skydive, you jump and there is no going back until you land, and the only thing you can do is to enjoy. Don't do it with fear, if you decide, do it with open mind.
    Peace and love!

Yeah I would have been worried if he said he was an investment banker or something, but clearly he has an open mind and willing spirit, that's all one needs for lucy.

lsd isnt a "miracle" for anyone.. takes a strong mind to do good drugs,if you have one youll be fine..

how unfortunate that one needs a drug to seek there own spirituality and understanding of the world around them ..

there is a video of an older man taking mescaline for his first time on youtube. it seems he had a very profound dislocation of reality, and actually stepped in and out of eternity. i think older trippers have a more developed mind, there trips are probably a lot more profound, because more of the life experience can be comprehended.

Excellent point! You speak of Aldous Huxley. He was in his middle years when he ate mescaline for the first time, and it opened his mind wondrously and allowed him to write his most famous work which changed the course of drug history, The Doors of Perception.

Thanks very much for all the responses and different points of view. An older mind falls into a rut and becomes a caricature of itself, sliding into a cardboard world of bills and couch potatoism; youthful values are lost. Perhaps LSD resets you. All I can tell you is that Im very excited about possibly one day soon having the chance to try LSD; something ive always wanted to do...

    thanks all

Don't make any major purchases because the stuff in your wallet is only paper and very convenient and the checks are even more convenient and doesn't adding a bunch of zeros make it even more pretty, don't call the power company with your account number to turn off the electric to the city because you think they're sending electrical vibes through the air and it's upsetting the fish, don't tell your neighbors you love them and offer to help them exterminate the yellow lines of light attaching them to th mailbox. Don't follow that urge to get in the car and drive because you suddenly want multi-colored icecream. Don't shave, don't balance a checkbook, don't tight-rope walk....

    :D
    Just causing trouble

Being older to me would mean having more knowledge on how this world works, and you being 40 plus years or so would know more about reality then most people on this forum, any how because of this your escape from reality should be more enjoyable because you would realize all the things that we realize plus more...

In the movie the matrix, when Neo is having difficulty adjusting to his newfound reality, Morpheus explains how the older a person is the more difficult it is for them to let go.
