http://www.thestar.com/sciencetech/article/544684 OTTAWA – Researchers say they have located the world's oldest stash of marijuana, in a tomb in a remote part of China. The cache of cannabis is about 2,700 years old and was clearly ``cultivated for psychoactive purposes," rather than as fibre for clothing or as food, says a research paper in the Journal of Experimental Botany. The 789 grams of dried cannabis was buried alongside a light-haired, blue-eyed Caucasian man, likely a shaman of the Gushi culture, near Turpan in northwestern China. The extremely dry conditions and alkaline soil acted as preservatives, allowing a team of scientists to carefully analyze the stash, which still looked green though it had lost its distinctive odour. It was good stuff-but you wanted more an hour later.
Pretty cool. But it also really makes you think about how people found out it was actually psychoactive... I mean a bunch of fools were smoking anything that would burn until on day they were like ... dude, omg.... this is so different compared to smoking pinecones and strawberries
Man!!!! I saw this earlier and thought it was a joke!!!!! Holy fuck!!!!! Edit: your right orison it is coal!!!!
If I was one of the researchers I woulda came outta that place stoned as shit & been like yeah I didn't find anything good and then totally horde the stash, or sell it.
LOL! I'll bet someone was just burning the plants for heat or something, and after getting high as fuck made the connection between the plant and being high.
