I apologize for another thread but I'm going hunting within the next 16 hours. I live in New Orleans, LA and don't want to go too far to find cow fields but I simply don't know where to go that is relatively close. Is there any way I can see from Google Maps? I would not think they would be around wet/swamp areas so should I just go into rural drier areas and hope for some?

Edit: Is there any way I can tell that something is a cow field

    First thing i'd look for is cow-pies ;) !

But, seriously: Drive down dirt roads, and look for barbed wire fences, grassy fields and cows. And, you're correct ~ no one would try to run cattle in swampy areas.

If you're hunting 'shrooms, be aware that commercially raised cattle are given feed that will stop the growth of any fungus, so you'll need to find some sort of little Mom&Pop ranch.

You can use Google Earth to scope out the countryside around you, but the photos are older, so some things may have changed.

    Hope this helps!

the fact that there are cows on it might indicate that it's a pasture.....just a hunch I have;)

Unlucky. The pastures in the countryside areas of North Wales were RIFE with LBM's, I'm telling you, pig.:piggy::piggy::piggy::piggy:

its a tad late in the season but youd be surprised when some fields produce.... remember not all fields produce mushrooms, and poisonous ones outnumber edible ones 10 to 1.
you might want to go east towards lake charles or something like that. ive had good luck in that area a few years ago.
