read any good books lately?

the latest novel i read was the graveyard book by neil gaiman. it was pretty sweet.

but i've also been reading a nonfiction book called sex, drugs, einstein and elves. it's alright, too

 

I just re-read "Lovely Bones."

 

i'm reading through my dale carnegie books right now

 

I'm halfway through Fitzgerald's "Tender is the Night" and am almost certain it's the best book ever written.

At the moment I'm reading two books, one's called Shadows of War - Violence, Power, and International Profiteering in the 21st Century (by Carolyn Nordstrom), it's basically an ethnographic account of war and war crimes, and who benefits from war. It's very good, hard to put down.

The other book is called Screwed - The Truth About Life as a Prison Officer, by Ronnie Thompson. It's a biography of a guy who worked as a prison officer, very interesting and the stories he tells are pretty amazing, opens your eyes really. The guy comes across as a complete twat though, he uses words like fuck and **** in pretty much every sentence and yeah, fair enough I can understand why.. sort of, but it's unnecessary in such large amounts and it's kinda distracting for the reader. But if you can get over that then yeah, it's a really interesting book.

 

i'm reading "Good Omens" by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman right now. one of the funniest/best books eveeeer.

Read a book called Will, by Maria Boyd. And Of Mice And Men, by John Steinbeck.

 

The first book in Stephen King's 'Dark Tower' series was amazing (titled 'The Gunslinger') and I'm currently reading a collaboration with Peter Straub called 'The Talisman'.

 

I just finished The Razor's Edge (W. Somerset Maugham) and Flowers for Algernon (Daniel Keyes).

Both were really, really excellent and I'd recommend them to anyone.

the only books I've read in the past three months have been for school.

not very good ones either.

 

like most of gaiman's work, i'd say good omens is very much "light reading" but i love that kind of stuff to break up the monotony of the dense stuff i read a lot of (mostly but not exclusively for school)

that said, good omens is my absolute favorite book of this type, and i've read it a good 5 or 6 times. i've actually committed burglary to get the book back from somebody i lent it to who would not return it:cheers2:

i've never read anything else by terry pratchett, but would like to check it out

 

The best one I've read in some time was "What Happened to Lani Garver" by Carol Plum-Ucci.
