The US government should issue shirts for us all to wear.

Shirts proving what? That we belong to specific group that is acknowledged as part of the establishment?

What this shows me is that there seems to be nothing more important to most individuals in our society than getting what you deem is your entitlement. And if that means killing others to get it, it is accepted. That's just wrong!

I agree. We kill to be first in a store? It's been my experience that at Christmas when I had money and bought gifts, most people didn't want what I had bought. They planned to exchange. But someone lost their life because consumers wanted access to a bargain.

Mobs + excitement + doorways = cattlerun and death. Just ask The Who.

2000 people trying to get in....
If I wanted to get 2000 people together in a wide open park (where there were no cattleruns), I'd have to get a permit, limit my crowd, make security provisions...yet one day a year, it's ok to have unsafe mobs gather and then try and squeeze through a store front not desinged to handle the numbers. Fuck bi-law and safety, we all need deals!

What gets me is that after it happened and the police and first responders are trying to help the people who went down, people were still so focused on 'zomg must shop' that the cops were getting pushed around.

So sad on so many levels

It's pathetic. No commodity is worth taking a life for, especially some lame Christmas gift which is going to go underappreciated.

But with today's financial crisis that's the only thing that will lead the wealthy speculators out of trouble, so no one is even going to try and regulate it. Much like the Wall Street mess was allowed to escallate out of proportion so will this type of behavior.

I'd much rather stand in a room of smokers and inhale their second hand smoke than take on raging consumerism run amuck. I think my chances of survival would be better. But for some reason our priorities have all been manipulated towards a marketting goal. Neither is good or illegal, but many have sought to legislate the one, but given no interest in controlling the other.

And the rulers and rich looked down upon the plebians and laughed, "Oh how we can make them dance and seeth and foam at the mouth for a pittance. Let us wage wars, oppress their freedoms, and grow richer for they will never notice!"

2 wars going on, the rights of anyone who's different are being stripped away, the environment is in the shitter and people are killing each other to save 20 bucks on a cheap plastic chinese toy. :patriot:

Yeah, that story makes me sick. Those people that trampled into Wal-mart should feel so ashamed, not just because they were going into Wal-mart, but because their greed literally caused a death. How much motivation does one need to NOT shop like that?

Everyone should of been charge with homicide. Imo , it became a crime scene and all those ppl just became suspects and should be held accountable.. Lock down the store and start taking names and process them as criminals.
That very day ppl went to prison for smoking marijuana.. who are the bigger fools in america.. This county is sick..
Walk outside and its the jerry springer show... Americans have no morals.

Even knowing about the death, some people refused to stop shopping. This didn't make people stop and think at all. That's how much people care about STUFF over LIFE. Sickening and sad.

I don't understand how they could all continue shopping. I couldn't have, and I wouldn't want any gifts purchased at the expense of someone's life. Nothing is that precious or desirable.

I think that's wishful thinking. I think our moms, grandmas, aunties, wifes, and sisters did this all in the name of getting what they wanted at a bargain price. There may have been some men in the mix as well after that flat screen at half price. The difference there is they were probably buying for themselves not others.
