I was arrested for driving under the influence in Jan. I also has a small amount of marijuana in my purse. I was sentenced to 3 days in jail and must surrender this coming Friday by 05:00pm. to serve my sentence. This is my first time ever in trouble, I am very nervous about going to jail even if it is only for 3 days. The night I was charged I was taken to the jail for testing and booking, but was never in a cell, I was handcuffed and my car and purse searched by the arresting officer at the scene, when we arrived at the jail the cuffs were removed and I sat on a bench in a lobby until booking was completed and the I was released to my sister.
Will I be stripped searched when I surrender since I will be in the cells? What should I wear? Will I be allowed to take some paper work from the office to work on? Any advice will be appreciated.

yeah ull be strip searched and changed into jail clothing.. u can wear whatever u want it doesnt matter... u can bring some paperwork in but not like a huge stack.. i'd bring it in a manilla envelope

dont worry about 3 days man, ur going to county jail not prison, its fine, ive been to jail for a 7 days before and iwas nervous as sh!t but its not nearly as bad as i thought in my head.. especially if its not prison. 3 days is nothing just relax, read a book or do your paperwork and itll be over in no time.

    good luck bro

yea a couple of my friends have gone to county jail and said it really isn't as bad as you'd think it be, no shower rapes and getting the shti kicked out of you, and all that shit that movies/media make it seem like.

I was told by a friend that the local jail only has 3 cells for women, but often have 3 women per cell. Will I have to spend all day in the cell or is there common areas outside of the cell?

bah it won't be that bad, bring some books or something to pass the time by. office paperwork is a good idea. and don't worry, you won't get raped.

i find it hard to justify the government imprisoning anyone for possessing a plant, as if you deserve to sleep in the house of the murderers and burglars...

I hope you all are right and it won't be that bad. I still am not looking forward to spending 3 days in jail. My lawyer called me today, he said unlike a lot of celebrities in the news recently that get released almost instantly due to overcrowding that in my county I will spend exactly 72 hours even if I have to sleep on the floor. At least it will be over after this weekend.

Only 8 hrs. until I surrender. Just a few minutes ago my co workers were discussing what they are going to do this weekend. Should I have told them about my situation?
I am very nervous thinking about it. I did get a call from the Sheriff Department telling me what I was allowed to bring into the jail at surrender. I was also told that if our count jail was at capacity, I could be transported to a neighboring county jail to serve my sentence.

3 days for driving under the influence, or 3 for the weed. If you got no time for a DUI or even 3 days thats fucked up. No offense to you, but DUI is dangerous as fuck, it kills thousands a year. If thats all there giving for it then there a serious problem. No wonder no stops doing it.

I surrendered to the local jail on Friday to serve my 3 day sentence. I was told the jail was at capacity and I would be transported to a neighboring count jail that had a vacancy for the weekend. I was permitted to call my husband to let him know. Two other woman were getting transported to the neighboring jail. We were all searched, handcuffed with our hand in the front and a chain around our waist that attached to the handcuffs to prevent us from moving our hands, we also had shackles placed on our legs. We were then transported to the neighboring county jail, it was about a 30 minute ride and very uncomfortable with all of the restaints.

At the jail, I was fingerprinted and had mug shots taken and issued a jail ID bracelet. I was then stripped seached and given a jumpsuit to put on. While the officer was very professional and polite, this was very humiliating. I was then given a few minutes to read the jail rules and was then handcuffed and taken to my cell which I shared with 2 other prisoners. I only was given 1 thin blanket and the cell was very cold. While we were only locked in the cell at night and allowed to move around the cell block during the day, movement was very limited. This was the longest 3 days of my life, When it was time for my release I was transported back to the jail in my county , even though I was going to be released as soon as we arrived at the jail, I still had to be handcuffed and shackled, but I did learn a lesson and will never put myself in that position again.

    Its a good thread.

I think that its ridiculous that our so-called government could put us through that much humiliation...

I agree with Drew, and since I can't figure out how to start a new one, let's try to revive this one. Can anyone tell me if the intake experience described is normal? What happens when you are taken back and forth to court and while there waiting?

DUI for pot, or alcohol? Here in Texas you get your DL pulled and jail time for either. But with pot they put you on lifetime probation and piss test u every moth so they can throw you back in.

That's the way the Gov makes it's money. It allows drugs to be transported to the US and distributed so they can bust ya, to fill up the local crossbar hotels. What a set up. I watched it on TV last night. The War On Drugs. and the prison system.

Everyone knows what's up, but we all just turn a blind eye to it. We just let it happen. They are building more and more 'private' prisons bc there is money to be made. 67% are drug related incarserations. They get like 50Ks a yr for each prisoner, plus they farm them out to work gangs and make $$ off the chain gangs work.

The program also told of the Tabacco and Alcohol cos are funding the WOD bc they do not want MJ legalized. If MJ was legal then less ppl would be using tabacco and alcohol.

There is actually 45% more drugs being imported a yr then there was when this so called war was declaired by Nixon back in the 60s. I think a recent poll was like 78% of the ppl were for MJ.

Where I come from that is the majority and the majority rules in a democracy. Even the most devout anti MJ ppl confessed that in medical MJ they would have to reconsider and allow the prescribed use of it.

So, what it all boils down to is the ppl that are making money owning these prisons and getting all that free labor for work that the prison officals are getting the $$ for, is keeping us from our prusuit of happiness.

It's only a matter of time, I believe, as babylon is crumbling before our eyes, that This will all come crashing down with it. OR we all may be sitting our asses in one of these facilities in the worse case senerio.

It's all just one big power trip to keep us down and broke.
