Hi, I have a question: If you're dancing, for example breakdancing, and you do piruette/spinn while standing upside down with your head towards the floor - Can this affect your dreadlocks in a bad way? I've heard that for dreadlocks to be as nice as possible, you should let them be and try not to mess with them too much. Perhaps it will not be damaged if you wear something on your head? I don't know :/
In case you don't know what I mean by piruette, I'll just explain it like this: Is it bad for your dreadlocks to be rubbed and pressed towards the floor at least a few times every week? ;)

Doubt it. The only thing you'd have to do in IMO is to separate them more. I can't see how pirouettes could damage dreads any more than sleeping on them for 8 hours a night

i guess it would affect younger dreads more than mature dreads but I'm sure it would only flatten them and "catch" things on whatever surface your doing it on.

IM familiar with b dancing if you wore a beanie or somthing and did it im sure it wouldnt affect them. but if your feel some pulling like really hard pulling from spinning then it could rip hairs out but if that doesnt happen then its ok

yeah dude just wear a hat...not that many people spin without one with or without dreads anyway. or if you dont want to do that for some reason, you gotta make sure that what you're spinning on is good...defects or stuff in the floor can go into conflict with some dreads and thats gonna hurt. generally it's like no problem, but it IS possible that they will get like twisted and can "lock up" and end up with some pain again.

    Wear a hat. [end]

I study kung fu with mine. The wear and tear you speak of will damage baby dreads, but matured dreads will be fine. Plan to give it a long time (months and months). Or don't and just accept them for what they are if they get "damaged."
