so I have done some research on the forums to see what has been posted about this issue and other issues...but I'm still perplexed and frustrated. I have farily/very sensitive skin. I use Aveeno Shave Gel for sensitive skin (not scented), and I use the pink Venus razors for sensitive skin. I am in my early 20s and for as long as I can remember I have pereptually had razor bumps and in grown hairs resulting from shaving. To the extent that wearing a bathing suit is sometimes embarassing. They don't necessarily hurt like razor burn (which was what i found a lot of information on), its more so their appearance...any suggestions? PLEASE HELP!!! --- on a similar issue... I have blonde hair, but you know around my genital area its a bit darker, even though the hairs on my legs are blonde as well. Recently I've been noticing that on my upper thigh (VERY near my bikini area, but whre it is still the leg...my hairs are becoming darker and thicker, more like my pubic hair. Is this normal? Why is this happening? Is there anything I can do about it? thanks guys!
i'm not sure about your darkening hair, but as for the bumps, i would suggest taking a steamy shower to loosen yourself up, then apply your shaving cream, shave with the grain, the against the grain. i do this, and it doesn't necessary rid you of all your bumps, but it significantly reduces them, in my case anyway. but i think its worth a shot.
Have you thought about waxing instead? It's a lot less hassle and you don't have to do it very often at all. AND no shaving rash, bumps or anything..
i agree with the above, waxing may be a better option for you. i also recently discovered this medicated gel that is sold at drugstores that gets rid of razor bumps literally overnight. i received it as a sample, i wish i could remember the name of it. but it worked like a miracle. every time i shave my bikini area i get these awful razor bumps, but that stuff really worked.
Nobody else has said it, so I'll say it: No law says that anyone has to shave at all. Especially among the hippies. Some encouragement: http://community.livejournal.com/fuck_shaving/
i can't wax because it makes my pores bleed!! so i use a cream to dissolve the hairs! i usually find it works well the first time with no bumps or ingrown hairs, but when i go to do it the second time a week or so later it really gets bumpy and ingrown hair...y!!! lol it's sooooo frustrating!!!! i tried shaving but the itch drove me mad!! i wish i could wax
neosporin and polysporin work for me. i was told the red bumps are a little infected and the neosporin moves it along and heals it up. shave everyday, it only takes a few minutes and it's worth it to stay on top of it, less or no bumps and it's quick. after you get used to it, if you miss a day it's no big deal, your hair stubble will grow in much softer and less pokey. this also helps.
