anyone like him/recommend some of his stuff? he died recently, and i've only just got into him, i downloaded one of his songs from amazon, its called between the bars, its well good and i'd love to listen to some more of him
Yeah I just have XO but have heard other stuff. XO is a good recommendation to start with. He died by stabbing himself in the heart - what a courageous way to commit suicide.
elliot smith is amazing! although i think hes one of those epople who don't have an amazing voice but sound amazing anyways, does that make sense? namaste x x x
Makes perfect sense to me. The only Elliot Smith I have is a cover of 'Because' by The Beatles a dear friend sent me. But I can see what you mean. I think Bob Dylan's had that for years, being a pretty poor singer really but just sounding brilliant. Same goes The Flaming Lips singer, his voice aften creeks and cracks but it adds something sort of special when it does. And Jeff Mangum of Neutral Milk Hotel fame, his voice is down right awful to some, but I think it's marvellous.
good logic, you like one songwriter whos death was tragically early you must like them all... while elliott had something special, matthew was plain average. a year on from his death and his finishing it, from a basement on a hill has been released... buy it, a posthumous album that is actually good and not a cash in...
Well no it was not that good logic, i suppose. A bit harsh because you find him average . He was a male singer with a goo...what the hell anyway, it was not that good logic. I like/d matthew jay so i thought of him at the time, i wrote the post badly, but i do that often hahah..anyway not realy the point.
I think he had a great voice. My favorite album is called just Eliott Smith (blue cover with people falling off a roof) and its on the Kill Rock Stars label, my second favorite is Either/Or His suicide was very shady, it was most likely an accidental murder by his girlfriend.
A briliant musican infact i was watching a music channel and they said about him!I reeally love the songs i have heard, really.. specail! Well i like 'im any way.. smoooth and just sensious.. really relaxing and emotive! I loove love love Elliot Smith!
