putain (whore, I believe)

I did a three-month exchange in France and people said 'putain' all the time... Even little kids would say it when they were frustrated. I really like how it's kind of a do-all curse word, but it's soft enough that you can use it in front of your parents or at the supper table.

This thread has renewed my interest in studying linguistics in university.

yea its like "fuck" really, u would say it anytime u're annoyed by something... but i wouldnt say u can "use it in front of your parents or at the supper table", its still pretty rude..

i dunno what my favorite french word is.. but my favorite english word is "moisturizing" =P

Un pamplemousse, without a doubt.
I love the way it sounds.^^~

 

Le mot que je préfère surtout les autres, c’est « semblable », aussi « rigolo »:sunglasse. Mais, a mon avis seulement, en français il y a beaucoup, beaucoup de mots très intéressant. Un autre, c’est « l’amour », « le fantôme » et tous les mots avec un circonflexe… je les adore.

On ne dit pas "enlarger" mais "elargir".
et on ne dit pas "votre mot le plus favorable" mais "votre mot preferé".

The word "Favourit" in english if diferent to "favorable" in french.
Je suis favorable à ta décision = ta décision me plait je suis d'accord avec toi.

Ma phrase preferée est "je t'aime !"
