There are hundreds of movies that I saw as a kid on TV that were amazing. I love most of the spaghetti westerns especially For a Fistful of Dollars. Cool Hand Luke One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest North by Northwest Ryan's Daughter and a film that completely enthralled me when I first saw it... 12 angry men. These are just a few that immediately came to mind.
On the Waterfront is one of my all time favorites. Saw it in Germany at age 13, in German, but didnt speak the language, and all I could think was that I wanted to see it as soon as I got back to the States. Also, 12 Angry Men, Fail Safe, and of course, any of the old Godzilla movies, lol.
