I always wait at least a few hours before putting it on after washing, so that I'm sure they are perfectly dry. Other than that, it seems so tempting to wear a wool hat as much as possible, as it seems to help. Is there any reason/benefits to letting the dreads have a good amount of air as well?
Why not? I put mine on and take it off as needed. Just remember not to wear it all the time and to let them breathe now and then.
Remember to take them out to let them breathe. As far as I know, movement of the hairs causes knotting, so unless you have BABY baby dreads (several weeks), you will only help your cause.
I would say your fine. If you wear it during the day just make sure you take it off at night. I wouldn't worry about. Just make sure you keep them separated or they will all grow together. Rip them apart when necessary.
that should be fine, but make sure they're TOTALLY dry before putting it on, especially if you have it on all day. mine take about 12 hours to air dry in the winter... it takes a long time for the center of the dread to get completely dry. but if you're hair is really short and not really maturely dreaded yet, it probably could be dry in 4 hours or so.
Nakedtreehugger, offtopic, but whenever i see your signatures, I always think of my sister. You two look a lot alike to me. Same age too.
